I don't think they talked about changing existing lyrics, they only said they will add new ones were there aren't any... And even if they wanted to, the lyrics on most of the latest albums' songs were way more mature that most of the 80's cheap ones, so they could have decided to "update" those to try to sound more modern in that sense...
The boys are smart, if they have tons of unreleased songs from that era, they will use the ones composed by Klaus, Rudy and Matthias (if he has any rights on some of them), if they want to use Herman's stuff, I think they will credit him without problems, they are not in bad terms like with Francis... By the way, I don't know how this stuff of credits on unreleased and unfinished material works, and I really don't care about it, I just want a kickass record!

Meine: There’s still life in those bloody old Scorpions
Scorpions frontman Klaus Meine has explained why the veteran German band decided to abandon their retirement plans.

Three years ago the Scorps announced that they had decided to wind down their career; now they’ve changed their minds.

In an interview in the new issue of Classic Rock, Meine explained the volte-face as follows: “As the emotion built, it [not retiring] became a gradual decision. It’s one thing to say, ‘This is going to be the end of the Scorpions’ and another to do it. Our Sting In The Tail album [2010] was such a success that a whole new generation of fans joined the party. It was amazing. And you know that with all the best parties it’s sometimes hard to find the door?”

There are plans for a new Scorpions album, featuring leftovers from the early 1980s.

“We started that over a year ago,” Meine confirmed. “It will be material that was never finished; songs with pure Scorpions DNA from a very exciting time. Once we close the book on the crazy touring schedule that’s something we’ll pick up again.”

There may also be an album of all-new Scorpions material in the pipeline.

“At this point nothing is out of the question,” Meine said. “When we said adios with SITT, our label, Sony Music, cried: ‘No, no, no… what about this idea? What about that idea?’ There are some offers you just can’t refuse. I don’t want to say too much right now but I can reassure you there is still life in those bloody old Scorpions.”

He concluded: “We’ll just have to see what’s realistic. We’re working on a documentary movie about the band’s history. We filmed the tour’s big finale in Munich which was very emotional.”

I think again: maybe new lyrics for this old, leftover songs - about the time and the band changing!
And who know who write the lyrics? Maybe some of herman or not - who know?
No, no new lyrics for old songs, thats fact!!
And about Sony: i hear ( from a guitarist of the scorps ) that the label have some things in the future with the band, but he don't know what exactely . . .
Only: the movie, the new CD and some concerts in 2013 . . .
. . . and 2014 . . .
2015 > it's a must: 50 years of scorpions!!!

Why not new lyrics? I don't know who write the old lyrics and it's fact: the most was only "blablabla"
And i think the style is beside the STING IN THE TAIL CD

Where is this a fact? If the songs were demoed and on tape it had to be more than blah blah blah lyrics. Plus its well know that most of the b-sides released in that era were heavy on the Herman lyrics. In fact while Herman had no credits on Face The Heat, the two b-side singles, Partners in Crime and Rubberf***er were Herman songs lyrics-wise.
This is sort of a let down, they find all these songs from what was their best era, so why go and change the essence of them? I can see that for unfinished lyrics where you add to it, but why omit the exisitng ones and do all new lyrics with no other reason other than to snub someone.

And lets not forget, this album might still hit a roadblock because of they were taken from the vault of another party who might very well have a say in them.

This is true Drew!! They are "rewriting" the lyrics due to wanting to leave out the one who wrote the original lyrics. I wish they wouldn't do things like this. I thought they were better than this b.s. ?? I still love them beyond reason, but I just can't justify their actions in my heart.

The Scorps are 30 years older than in the past 80's - and wiser... I my point of view they have to change some lyrics, rewrite some lyrics or write the lyrics for . . .

?? What are you talking about? These are songs that were written and never released and so they are "rewriting" them. Unfortunately, it's at other's expense. BUT, they aren't "classics", hell they haven't even been released yet. ??

Good grief, here we go again is right? So here's a stupid response from an old stupid fan.

For starters, we are not talking here about rewriting lyrics from classics. This is an album of unfinished songs from the early 80's. If you go back and look at who did the lyrics back then, Herman had a big chunk of credits, so yes, probably lots of these have his lyrics too. Like most demos maybe some had nonsense lyrics that need to be re-written, that makes sense. But if this record comes out and you see nothing with lyrics from Herman then you know all his contributions were wiped out.

And as for the remark of them having grown up and being 30 years older, true, they have. But if you are not going to go and write brand new fresh 2013 songs and are going to use songs from the 80's then your plan is to have that vibe of the 80's, so don't mess with all the lyrics.

Then again maybe you feel the lyrics are immature, so while they are at it, lets ask them to redo the lyrics to Rock You Like Hurricane just so you don't feel offended by it's immaturity.
