100% official: Scorpions continue (Interview with Klaus)

Unread postby vasi » January 18th, 2013, 2:10 pm

Now it's 100% official: Scorpions will not retire!

http://www.bild.de/unterhaltung/musik/s ... .bild.html

As it is in German, a short "adapted" translation.

The "Bild" article mentions an interview of Klaus with the newspaper "Neue Presse". Unfortunately, I can not read it, as it is not free on the web.

"We said goodbye for the past two and a half years. Now it's over with goodbye. We figured out that there is still much life in the Scorpions"

"The fans made it very hard for us to cope with our desire to give up"

If anyone has access to the ful interview from "Neue Presse", it would be great if he/she could post it here.

Here is the interview in English using Google Translate:

Hanover. Klaus Meine, 2012 were your Scorpions in terms of sales, the world's most successful German live band.
It was a good result for this year. We're at number 38 in the top 50 of the world's most successful bands, otherwise there is far and no German band. And even if the Stones and Springsteen with purely takes only six or seven rock acts are.

This success has influenced the decision to keep going but now?
(Laughs) We've taken two and half years goodbye. Now time is the end of farewell. But no, it has nothing to do with. It tastes nothing sweeter than success. In recent months, gabs already one or two relativistic statement of us being there every spare his own emotions could run without it would have been a single band vote. As of 2010, the album is finished, "Sting in the Tail" was, we thought, 'Who knows whether we like that in this quality can lift again'? But we realized there's so much life in the Scorpions - which has diluted the very thought of quitting.

So: It goes on.
But. Differently What has come to an end, the long trips. We now have over 200 concerts around the world behind us, have come straight to goal. Such massive tours wirds no more.
Gabs colleagues who tried to talk you out of the end?
Yes, for example, Joe Perry, guitarist of Aerosmith, who said: "Does' no. No way! "

What part did the fans?
That have made us the cessation wanting from the start hard. No matter where we got off the plane, they picked us. And there behind the old faithful fans a whole new generation has grown. You look down from the stage into the faces of 16-year olds who sing our songs of his voice. What is taking place because of an exchange of energy!

You have brought back on this tour France.
In Paris a few years ago we could not sell out phone booth. This time it was packed Bercy, 15 000 French.

So why not still a world tour sometime?
Look at the Stones. That have made in their anniversary year only four concerts is also a statement. You can not do that on this mammoth level forever. And you're not sure your rock 'n' roll hurricane is downgraded to "tropical storm". You have to be in top shape every day, deliver the same performance. And there are some days, where the singer says to himself: Now, you'd still prefer to be the bass player.

There are people who say: It was never that serious about quitting.
Sure, they say, that was all just a marketing idea. But this is not so. It was serious about quitting, but I'm still scared to death when I was away from the tour-parts in Hanover and someone shouted across the street: "Hey, Klaus, as it feels as if younger pensioners?" Creative goes together with his pension not. The golf courses of the world will have to wait a while for us.

What are the concrete plans?
I have already started a year ago in the Tour breaks to work on unfinished songs from the 80s, who have an awesome power. In part, they have only working title, sometimes I sing nonsense text from beginning to end it. We will complete some, another record from scratch and put together a nice package for our die-hard fans. Our Swedish manufacturers are also on fire. And the love and the Hanover Wedemark ...

So find a new album in 2014?
Whether it comes out already in 2014 - we are not so concrete. But the label wants to. That's a nice situation when one is not in the autumn of his creative life chased by the Court.

The old albums remastered?
We'll see. What is in any case, is a Scorpions movie. May we introduce him to the Berlinale 2014.

There already is a next concert date?
On the weekend we are unplugged in Moscow. But it is not a public concert.

Speaking of Moscow. It was amazing to hear nothing of the Scorps to Pussy Riot.
That was really sad what has happened. It was of course an extreme provocation - in a church, that would be with us no trifling matter.

But no one came to a camp. Why the Scorps have said nothing?
It had all the usual suspects to speak. And we hold back for many years, what policy, the German domestic concerns. We have since become much more cautious.

But in this case, your art, the rock 'n' roll, silence was made to put in a camp. The public reaction was exaggerated.
Absolutely. This may be due to the incredible size and the history of the country, but it was totally disproportionate and not comprehensible to the Western mind.

Do you have difficulty following the incident, in Russia sing "Wind of Change", the song about the good east-west change late 80s when Moscow again authoritarian rule?
The song represents a particular historical moment. In other regions of the world, in the Middle East as it is a song of hope. If we were a political band, we're not, it could be interpreted differently now, of course. But when we play "Wind of Change" in Russia, we see especially the lucky fans that connect the song clearly with memories of that time.

How does your family quitting quitting?
It's nice to now have time for the family. To also have the ability to cope with the death of my mother, who died in October, yes. The last months were not as easy. But if I here too long rumore, Gabi is probably lucky if I disappear again for a few concerts.

I apologize if it's a little ruff

here's something for those who understand german.

http://www.ndr.de/info/programm/sendung ... ns629.html

a quick summary. The editor made some thoughts about Klaus' life after the retirement and what is going on in his head. The result is, Klaus is sitting home and is bored. And after some suggestions of Gaby Meine - calling former chancellor Schröder or going into the garden and cutting the hedge - which could not cheer him up, he thinks to himself he should call Rudi.
