A little help from Germans, please ;)

A little help from Germans, please ;)

Unread postby Rūta » July 18th, 2012, 8:36 pm

Hello dear German friends and the ones who love Germany :)

One of my friends (crazy one, Berta, some of you know her) is going to Cologne with her work quite soon and she is asking whether I could suggest her some nice places/pubs to hang out in the centre of the city. It should be nice place to eat, also with live music. There will be 20-30 people in a group, so the place shouldn't be very small either. :)

I hope I can get some names here.

Take care!

Ruta

Hi Ruta,
this site hopefully will help you and your friend...

http://www.cologne.de/

We went to "Früh" some years ago. It´s a brewery near the cathedral and there you can stay with many ppl, but there´s no music. Look at events. When you know the exact date when they´ll be in Cologne you can contact me and I can help you search for events.
I wish your friends lot´s of fun in Cologne. It´s a fantastic city.

They will be in a city in mid October, most of the places don't do reservations because it will be during Oktoberfest... my friend contacted few places but no answer so far... she's looking something like www.papajoes.de where you can go, drink wine, chat with people and have live music in a background... places for 25 year olds and older professionals... i hope she will find something :)

Hi Ruta,

you could have asked me directly. You can say that Cologne is the city where I grew up and lived for 20 years.

First of all: Cologne is the best city in Germany - you won't find any better.

Then finding a pub or something isn't really hard, Marta and her friends should go to the 'Altstadt' and look for the 'Meterkneipe'. Or maybe the 'Biermuseum'. But there are so many great pubs in Cologne, it won't be hard to find something that fits you good.

If you go to a 'Brauhaus' (maybe 'Früh' or 'Sion') there are some things you have to know. The waiter is called 'Köbes' and a Köbes is always unfriendly in a certain way. If you order a 'Kölsch' (cologne beer, btw. the best in the world) you get automatically a new one as soon as your glass is empty. If you don't want a new one, you have to lay the coaster on the glass.

And there is something she must not miss: She has to eat at least on time a "Rheinischen Sauerbraten" and a 'halven Hahn". But I would not recommend "Himmel un Ad".

If you want to know more, just ask!
Hans

In my personal opinion the waiter's way is quite friendly, as long as you will be able to pay for your bill at the end, oh and you will be able to stand up and go home.
Klaus-THE SPECIAL ONE,
Rudolf-THE WISE ONE,
Matthias-THE COOL ONE,
Pawe-THE SIMPLE ONE,
James-THE CRAZY ONE,
The Scorpions are THE NICEST GUYS.

Hans, i thought Munich was the most beautiful city in Germany, now you make me want to consider changing some plans for my October vacation, as only Berlin and Munich were on the list.

Hi! I need some more help again. This time for my work.

Does anyone know what's the story behind this beer's brand? Why it is called this way, etc.?

Thanks so much!

Matthias told me one time that Munich is the most beautiful city. I guess it's all in your own perspective, yeah?
