It was a great show thru and thru and Scorpions didn't lack any energy.
When people say that they could do without the drum solo, they don't realize that it's a break for the rest of the band who are going full throttle giving the audience their money's worth... and it's also a chance for James to showcase the cartoon of a personality that he is.

All of us (Savage Amusement) were backstage before the show and during Tesla's set. Our drummer Patrick got a photo behind James' kit and our guitarist Kevin got his Gibson Explorer signed by Matthias and those two had a great chat... chattering like monkeys in a tree! (No doubt talking about guitars!)

15 minutes before James goes on, he can't find the Savage Amusement Jeff (our bassist) had given him, so then he wants to trade me mine, so he gives me a GangStar shirt to wear, and so, that is why I didn't have my band shirt on!

Our friend and photographer Dave had one of the SA shirts on, and he got a photo pass to shoot the 1st 3 songs. I know Dave is working on those photos as we speak.

We all had seats in section 103 row Q, about 7 rows in front of the catwalk. I was pretty much standing dead center.

Yeah I hear that they had quite the amazing talk, Kevin told me a little bit AND then a huge mutually respectful brother hug at the end! Wow! THEN you little Savages got drunk with them after the show!! LOL

Thank you for the reviews. I'm so glad everybody got a awesome time at the concert. Unfortunately I couldn't go  and it was very painful to know that they played Wind of Change when I saw them last year they didn't. WOC was the first song I heard from them when I was 12 years old and I remember calling the radio station and asked for it every single day!!!! Good old memories.
Anyway, I'm going to love Scorps all my life. Their music is incredible and they are very nice people. Thank you Scorpions for being part of my life and for making great music all these years. I'm proud to say that I was Raised on Rock!!!!!!!! :D
Scorpions, the sunshine of my life.

Thanks for the great reviews, Mike and Bill! It’s been a week since the Chicago show and I finally have time to write my review. You guys summed up perfectly the technical aspects of the show, and I have nothing to add to that – the band was on FIRE! My seats were 4th row center, just to Matthias’ side, a couple of people in from the catwalk. I’m personally not a big fan of the catwalk since I’m looking at the band from the back half the time, but I have to say that seeing the band on the catwalk with the lightning flashing across the sky was really cool. 8)

My friend and I did the meet and greet before the show, which was fun and set the tone for the night. We ran into some people that we met at the Red Rocks show, so we got better acquainted and had a good time together before the show. When Matthias saw me backstage, he made a comment how he had just seen me “a couple of days ago in Denver”, and it was nice to be recognized by him. :D We also joked a little about me standing in my usual spot between him and Klaus for my picture.

They were pretty talkative during the autographs, and for once, Carrie and I didn’t clam up in their presence and we were actually able to say a few things to each of the band members.  I told them that I was bringing my son to see them the following night in Milwaukee, and Klaus, Rudolf and Matthias all seemed happy that the new generation was coming to see them. The guy in front of me asked Matthias what his favorite song is to play live right now, and he said that it’s “Hit Between the Eyes”. I told him how I just posted in my Red Rocks review how in a 1991 interview he said that was his favorite song to play live, and he laughed and said that he really enjoys playing that song.

I met up with Mike and Bill after Tesla’s set, and it was great to see you guys again! Don’t forget the pact we all made…..GERMANY! lol I also talked briefly with several other fans that I’ve met at Scorpions concerts over the years, and spent some time talking with Tim and Marissa. It’s so much fun meeting up with other fans that share the same passion for the Scorpions! It’s one of the things that I’m going to miss.

The Scorpions finally came on stage and I was immersed in the show for the next 90 minutes – it seems like it’s over in the blink of an eye. I am so going to miss that feeling of pure happiness when I see them perform live right in front of me. Although I know what songs they are going to play and have seen the same songs performed over and over (and over….) again and again, it doesn’t matter when I’m in the “magic of the moment”……every song is a gem that I’m thrilled to hear live. The energy of these guys never ceases to amaze me! Klaus’ amazing vocals, Rudolf’s “moves”, Matthias’ faces he makes on stage……I just love watching these guys perform!!

It was too bad that they had to cut out Still Loving You due to the storm, but the storm was rolling in and there was tons of lightning, and when the concert ended the sky opened up. When they were out on the catwalk when the show ended, I was able to get hand slaps from all of the band members except for James. Mike and Bill, sorry I had to leave quickly after the show, but I didn’t want the autographed items that I had with me to get ruined. We then headed home in the rain, looking forward to Milwaukee the next night.

Thanks to Klaus, Rudolf, Matthias, James and Pawel for another great night that I’ll never forget!

They got to party with the boys afterward too!! What a story they must have! ha Especially Kevin who brought his black with white striped Explorer for MJ to sign. I was told some of that conversation between the two guitarists!!!

That's funny! I didn't see them there, but I have to admit that with everything going on, I wasn't really looking. I'm glad that they had a great time with the Scorps!

Well even tho they said they were going to wear their band shirts, they didn't. But James wore his on stage during Holiday. Didn't you see the real tall dude carrying a beautiful black Explorer with white stripes at the M&G? MJ and him talked forever! Then MJ gave him a huge brotherly hug before they left for the stage. That is Kevin's mentor and I am thrilled that he got a chance to get some of the Master's wisdom, cuz MJ told him some things on how to change up the Explorer to give it a better sound. Pretty cool!

Here is the pic! That is the bass player, Jeff, with his pretty girlfriend and James... and you.

MJ and Kevin, who plays lead of course and Adrian, who plays Rudolf's part. It was magic for all of them, thx to their bro, JK, for making it a moment in a million years!! James, I love ya bro, for what you did for my Savages!!!

Thanks, Gabi - it was a great show and a great time, and it's always fun to share it with other FOSers!

@Cristy - Yikes! As I posted in another topic, you never know when you might end up on camera! Too bad we can't always look normal when it happens! (Thanks for sharing - it's kind of funny).

Las Vegas M&G and Chicago front row-
Warning, lots of details..trying to keep my memories fresh of my (possibly) last Scorps concerts

June 23rd—Arrived in Vegas—I’d be meeting Klaus this day! At the venue, we had to wait for the rep to set up the m&g table; when she was ready, we got our tickets. A little while later, we were taken inside to the vip lounge area for food and drinks. We met some really great Scorps fans; I’d have to say that was the one of the best parts of the experience.

When the time came, we were taken to an elevator to the backstage area. We had to wait a bit. Actually, Matthias appeared first, and it seemed like he was surprised that the others were not there yet and went away. We had to wait a bit more, and then finally….there they were.

The five of them sat at a table and started signing autographs. I brought my set lists from the last 3 Chicago concerts. They were very interested in them; Rudy was questioning the short list, wanting to know what year it was.

It went so quickly, like a dream, really, but I actually spoke up to each one of them to tell them how much I have enjoyed their music all these years. I told Klaus I have been a fan for over 30 years, and he said, “That’s a lot of years!” I reached over to touch his hand…goosebumps! It was really him! Me—meeting the Scorps—no matter how many years I’ve been a fan—it’s an amazing feeling!!!

Then the picture—I was between Klaus and Matthias, so I put my arms around both, and they had theirs around me. How awesome is that?! My husband took his with the Scorps “pillow case” up—it was a nice picture!  and different. I didn’t want different—I just wanted my arms around Klaus and Matthias .

That was it…then into the elevator and off to the show. I had third row seats in front of Matthias.

When the Scorps came on, their show was fantastic. Klaus, you have such a beautiful, magnificent voice—I love listening to you sing! You could sing the phone book, though, and I’d listen. 

We were right by Matthias, and he really put on a great show with lots of energy. The biggest surprise of the night—Pawel. I never knew he could move so well and had such energy!  James—like I mentioned to you at the m&g, your drumming is awesome, especially on the tracks on Comeblack—and your solo/video is fun to watch. Rudy, your Blackout mask and “Beer Delivery Guy” shirt were cool! It was an excellent concert!

When it was over, we saw some of the other people we met backstage, and we were the last to be in line for the taxis. I think we were all trying to make the night last. I sure had that feeling, though I knew I’d be seeing them next week in Chicago!

June 28 – On our way home from Vegas, Midway Airport was closed, because the lights went out. We were diverted to Kansas City—8 hours from Chicago. The earliest they were saying we’d be out of there on a flight was Saturday. What?? I had front row Scorps tickets the next night, so I had to get home! By 2am when they released our luggage, we rented a car and drove all night!! I was going to get to that concert!!

June 29 – Feeling a bit rundown, we headed downtown for the show. I felt re-energized by the people around me, all going to see the Scorpions! The venue is in a beautiful location, right by the lake within the Museum Campus area, and the weather was perfect!

Security was somewhat better this time. Those of us in the front row had to wear a red bracelet, so they could identify who really had front row seats; however, there were several people who nagged, hugged, and kissed the security guard into letting them have bracelets, too, which he gave them. Annoying!!

We watched Tesla; they were good, as they were in Vegas, but I was couldn’t wait to see the Scorps!!

Finally, there in Chicago, on stage—my favorite band in the world—the Scorpions, with me in the front row, right up on the rail!! The show in Vegas was fantastic, but here—it was as if they ratcheted up their energy level even higher! Klaus was perfect, as usual; Matthias was doing kicks and fancy steps, making lots of crazy eyes and faces at the fans; Pawel was all over the place; James and Rudy were amazing! There is NOTHING like watching from the front row, seeing the guys up close. What a great show!

During the show, a few things happened—the drummer from Tesla and his family came out to watch the show, standing right next to me. I took a picture with him. However, one of the girls who got that free front row bracelet was annoying his wife, even getting water on her at some point. The guard just moved that girl away from her. Then, James threw out a few drumsticks like Klaus does, but this guy went to grab it and completely fell over, along with the portion of the portable fence, crashing right down on the ground. James did an “oops,” then walked away.  The guy was fine, but he was smiling and happy that he got that drumstick!

I actually got four drumsticks that night!! Yes!! Two from Klaus! The night ended with the lightning crackling across the sky as the Scorpions left the stage. I knew this was probably the last time I’d ever see them live, but it was a fantastic two concert experience--I was content. At least I thought I was at the time.

As the days are passing, and the Scorps have left the U.S., I realize how much I already miss them. Thank you, Klaus, Rudy, Matthias, James, and Pawel. I hope you keep playing your music, and if you ever get a chance to come back to the U.S., I hope to see you again…
