End of an era? Hopefully not.

End of an era? Hopefully not.

Unread postby flyingvee » July 18th, 2012, 3:25 pm

Thought this would be a good time to look back at what might be an end of an era for most of us. With the band calling it quits, or at least ending the long tours, seems most of us won’t get the chance to see them again. But it is not only the band but getting together with good friends who all seemed to have a common bond. There has always been something very unique about Scorpions fans. No matter what different walks of life we may have been, when we got together at shows it was as if we knew each other for years. I’ve made so many great friends over the years, many that will continue beyond the band. And still so many great people we have yet to meet. Hopefully some of the future projects from Rudy and Matthias and Klaus and of course Michael will see the light in the US. From my vantage point, I know Angelo and Aldo and Beth and myself still need to meet up with Scott and Tom. Need to get new friends Susan and Olenka to join us. I guess I say this cause some have said that this site will will diminish as the band stops touring here, but I hope that’s not true. If not here we need to stay in touch Facebook possibly. And if the band does indeed show up for some rare shows, likely California, Vegas and maybe NY, we can plan some road trips.
With that being said, while 99% of the people we have met have been great, it’s sad to still have among us those few selfish and egotistical people that play games. Even with my overlooking those habits and reaching out to those people they still choose to shun us because we talk to ‘certain’ people. A bunch of us tried to say hello to a certain person at the NY show, yet they turned their back and pretended not to see us. And then said they will not talk to people who are ‘minions’ of a certain person. Hmm, first she failed to see us and then she failed to ‘see us’ because we are minions. Nice talk coming from someone who proclaims to be a Scorpions self-promoter. Wondering just what promoting was done in NY by this person other than self-promoting. And then to follow up by locking the NY Jones Beach review. Excuse me, but NY is OUR hometown, not yours. You may have started the thread but it was still our town and our show. I really hope you resolve your anger and especially your silly feud. Life is too short to hold grudges.
Again hope to stay in touch with all the great people on here. I’ll even talk to the ones who have made me their enemy for no reason. 

Well I for one hated that I missed your call the other day sweetie...... Ya know, ur a better person than I am cuz I have been bullied for so long that I would spit on those folks if I saw them. But with that said, I too have met so many amazing ppl, most I haven't even met face to face. But this journey has been awesome and altho I b***h about some of the things our Scorps do or the decisions they make, etc, they have been such a huge and important part of my life. I am hoping that my "friendship" with one member will not stop just because they are gone from here.
I also hope that a road trip is in my future to meet those I haven't met; Drew, Scott, Susan, gosh my mind just reels with all the ppl I want to meet!!! I can't wait for the new album the boys have coming out and to see what projects they all have coming at us!! And frankly, I don't much care about this forum going down cuz I prefer FB anyway and that's saying a lot considering I HATE FB! ha Where's the shrugging shoulders emote?
The only good thing about this place is the great people that are kind and considerate and not out for competition. But when there is bullying, then it's a hateful place. I hope this doesn't get deleted cuz I have the right to say what I feel. And I mentioned no names, so.....
I wish we could all get along, but there are certain personalities in every race, creed, religion, etc that are skewed and therefore hard to get along with. But I sure hope that we can all agree to disagree and there will be lots to talk about in the future re: the new album, etc.

Drew well said..the person you are talking about she has told a number of people on this site that if they stay friends with me she will no longer associate with you guys. Very childish and immature and to think that she wanted to be part of the scorpsnews crew. Sounds like i made the right decision to not include her in our plans.

Back to your statements above Drew. You are right i have met alot of people at the Scorpions shows that i have attended for the past 30 years and made life long friends throughout those shows and years. Since i have many more people to meet in person including yourself from this site that means the band still has to continue touring. But i agree i want to stay friends with people through facebook or any other outlet from this site if they shut it down. Tom(FOS Daddy),Drew,Rudiray and Ted are like a brothers to me and Cristy is my Scorps sister. Drew, Ted and i have battled people on this site for years but in the end we all have found a common ground and that common ground is our love for the greatest rock band on the planet THE SCORPIONS..Yes not all of us share the same opinions but we still share the same love for the band and all the happy moments they have given us throughout the years.

After the Merriweather Post Pavilion (DC or Maryland) Show and seeing the reaction from the band to the crowd you could tell it's going to be hard on the band not to perform live again. So i really expect them to take 2013 off and come back in 2014 with some touring. Just remember the band did say that they would like their last ever USA show to be played at Madison Square Garden in New York City...So you never know what will happen in the future...There still is some hope!!!

My last post in this topic was wrong of me. Im sorry Drew. I just have been picked at by this girl for the last few weeks and I have had enough of it! She's always talking about how she is bullied. I have been bullied by her for the last four weeks and Im sick and tired of it. However, that doesn't give me the excuse to lower myself to that level and I can admit when Im wrong so Drew (topic owner) im sorry. Cristy ... I just have no more words for you. Its such a shame!

I have learned during the past year that humility is the best way to handle many of the things, the life still goes on :)

Really, many great people here, even though I haven't met many of you. This period of time since I'm here and "with" Scorpions will really leave a mark in my life that I will cary on forever. :)

I guess I must have missed something in the meantime, but no need to apologize Sherry. Of course I should add you to the list of people I have yet to meet in person. I know you two have had your difference and separate feud, but you still are both my friends anyway. I wish you could just put those issues aside in the future.

One of my friends said I should have taken the high road and not mentioned the person I did, and maybe I should have. I just felt offended. I've been a fan since 1976 and have met the guys on many an occasion. I was already at the meet n greet in NY the 2nd time we tried to say hello to her. And she tried to say that I wanted something from her. Like what? So maybe she's mad because I'm friends with Scott, too bad. What was her excuse for ignoring Aldo? Or a ten year old kid?

I forgot to mention that at the show my son was wearing the very same Blackout shirt that I wore at MSG when the Scorpions opened for Rainbow in 1982. When I pointed that out to Rudy, he had such a great grin and leaned over to tell Pawel about the shirt. As we were about to leave the meet n greet area, Rudy sent over one of the crew to give my son one of guitar pics. Classy guy as always.

So I apologize for having to bring up that negativity. As a fan of 36 years (gulp) I dont consider myself any bigger a fan than most on here, so yes, it offends me that someone who doesn't even know me tried to put me down and call me a minion. It bothered me, I vented, I'm over it. And she is welcome to join us in the future. End of story.

I`m so desperate to go to one concert and meet you (all) that I can hardly imagine turning my back on anyone !! On the other hand ..human relationships are way complicated ... it would be so better if we could read thoughts :D
But, instead we just have what we think other people are thinking about us or the situation, and we can make quite a mess of it.

I`m for ... aproaching and kissing without giving the chance to anyone to look like they haven`t seen me ,...what conversation might take place after that, well, ....that`s another story :P

Very Nicely said Adriana, and also Drew.

I hope to meet as many of you eye to eye as I can, when they return.

I agree Adriana, with the Kiss and say Hello, and things can also be complicated!! There's such a contrast, some meetings were as if we'd known each other forever, and some more delicate...I can't speak for Drew, I just know when we first got there to sign up, he said he saw someone he thought he recognized in the parking lot and tried to make eye contact. It's always funny to meet someone you've met online, I think there's a moment of "is that the person?" ..But we were waiting in line, to be checked in, and there was already some confusion as my ticket had been given to someone else, who had left.. To go to their car. It got straightened out, but we had to keep in line, waiting for an higher level event person to come and check on their procedures and straighten it out.

When we got backstage Drew was keeping track of Chris, the 12 of us in line went by meeting the Scorpions, who were seated at a table, autographing our items. As soon as that was done, the table where the sat to sign things was whisked away, They stood up to get ready to take pictures with us.. We were kept moving in line with other people adding in, to the line. There was a big group of people backstage looking on. There was a lot of organized activity, but two autographed postcards of the band members that belonged to our group were misplaced, and Aldo was trying to straighten one out, and I was trying to ask the people that were added in behind me if they saw mine. I'm not complaining, I'm just describing the hustle and bustle..for me I felt very relaxed meeting them, but it's a lot to take in :)

So, for Drew to recognize someone backstage a second time, and just in general here's a long anticipated event, everybody's happy.

One of the things I read on here once really stuck in my mind, maybe it's a quote on someone's signature..but it was something to the effect of "Scorpions songs describe the story of my life" So what song describes THIS story? "Winds of Change?" That's Chris' favorite song from the concert by the way. :)

So is it the end of an era? I hope not. As long as I live, I will love their music, and hope to have people in my life who share in that. And now there's a new generation of fans right?

Drew ... I did owe you an apology but it was nice of you to say I didn't. ;) :) Again, see ya in Miami! 8)

I was blindsided when I read some of the verbal assaults Cristy had said about me and the people who were with me on a public social network. I think there are a lot of ways to misunderstand what someone is trying to convey on the internet but comments like "punch her in the throat" and "knife her like a biker" leave little to question. Those words were pretty darn clear! I would venture to guess that anyone would take that as a verbal assault and everyone reading her comments about us knew exactly who she was talking about, including the one's who ran to tell me about it.

Cristy .... I said a lot of prayers last night and asked God to help me forgive you. Your comment towards me and the people with me were unprovoked and hurtful. To make it worse your attempt at an "apology" was offensive at best. Having said that, I forgive you and not for you but for myself and the people with me. Furthermore, I would ask in the future that you leave me, my family and my friends out of your online comments. Since we don't travel in the same circles that should be pretty easy to do as you have no need to be talking about us. God Bless you girl, I hope you find peace within yourself.
