Anyone going to the Toronto show?

If it's just me and my friend, it will be a strange concert. :)

If anyone is going and wants to meet up, just send me a message. I'll be there in the afternoon securing a spot to get up front. It's the first general admission show (for floor seats) of the NA tour, this is going to feel more like normal I think. :)

Well I didn't meet anyone from the forum over in Toronto - I think it's pretty much the only place so far!

Toronto was HOT - as in temperature. These outdoor venues in summer are icky. But hey it's the Scorps right?

As always security makes a mockery out of every concert, it's almost like they go out of their way to ruin people's experiences. Well in this case it was the security outside that did what they kind of did in Russia. There were folks waiting there around 1pm or so, when it got close to opening the doors they opened 2 additional lines instead of that one everyone was in. So kaboom, people who just got there were first in line etc. So frustrating. I wasn't first in line, but still I feel for the folks who were standing out in the hot sun all day.

Once they let us in, there were apparently 2 other entrances in which you had to run to and stand in line again. It was so miserably hot and most of us tried to run. Again - how dumb for the people who were waiting outside all day but are not able to run to the next gate in the heat? It almost seemed criminal to do that to people. I mean sure it's our choice, but when you are a fan, we should all be treated equally.

Anyways - we finally got inside and of course my friend and I went straight to the front of the catwalk, but before we realized it - the stage was about one meter (3 feet) higher than any of the other stages I've seen on this tour. So, for us short people it was like getting cheated out of the best spot in the venue since for me to see the actual stage I would have to hop up and down or when the guard wasn't looking I would climb up on the barrier. I didn't realize it at the time but every time I did that (And it was many times hehe) I apparently kept on hitting my outer thighs on the metal gate. Talk about some nasty bruises. Ah well all for rock and roll.

The stage was my main complaint, why they put it up so high is beyond me. I tried to convince them to move the barrier back a few feet because then I would be able to see something (others were as short as me too!) but they refused. In the end during the Scorpions show the barrier actually started to move toward the stage, I could touch the top of it while standing on the ground hah. So I blame the stage for my terrible neck aches and bruises!

The crowd was pretty drunk for the most part (Welcome to Canada eh?) but down in the pit while there was some pushing and shoving it wasn't so bad for general admission. But it was HOT.

The opening group was yuck, some local band called Behind the Curtain (they played in Montreal too), I think it was their first experience being up on the big boys stage. I think their music was more a "bar band" type and didn't really belong there. But I'm sure they enjoyed the opportunity.

The Scorps came on stage, ready to go. Although it seemed a bit less energetic than the other shows - probably because of the heat. I'm not sure but I got the feeling Rudolf wasn't feeling so good, apparently he wasn't at the Meet & Greet before the show either. (I gotta say, the more I see him on stage, the more I want his damn shoes - okay that's the girl in me talking.)

The sound was okay, nothing to brag about. There were some technical problems here and there but it seemed to resolve itself along the way.

Being so low from the stage was very strange for me. I couldn't see the video screens in the back and wasn't able to see James much except during his attack (solo). While it was great when the band came up to the front - there were times when I couldn't see anything so it was challenging.

I did have my girly "squeal" moment as the band is starting to recognize me and my purple flag. (More about the squeals from the Montreal show OMG do I have stories to tell.) Many waves and Rudolf laughing at me while I try to copy his side to side movements. At the end when James came to the end of the stage, he was like "I know you" and gave me one heck of a handshake like he was trying to pull me up. Sorry James, you aren't strong enough for that endeavor! It's funny to see the reactions from the people next to me, they were like "Hey wait, how do you know these guys anyways?"

It was a very good show, I wouldn't call it the best I've seen but it was as always very good. I'm starting to know the setlist and the things Klaus says in between the songs by heart now. I think I caught Klaus looking at me saying what he was going to say at the same time. Sorry Klaus it's like singing the songs, you can't help but to go along!

This one was my 5th of the North American tour, I have never seen so many concerts in such a small amount of time. It's crazy, I'm tired and totally addicted. I'll see about posting a Montreal review before I head out to New Jersey tomorrow.

Oh I have some photos by a nice photographer who was there, but you'll need to add me on facebook to view them. :)

Thanks again for the review, Joanne! I really enjoy reading yours, they have such a spirit. And yeah, I know what r u talking about the stage, since in Bucharest, Romania, it was the same.. too high, and even though I had the chance to be on the very front of the T, I chose the corner, cause I could see at least 3 of them.. Have a great time tomorrow and.. guess what.. waiting for review..

I'm totally excited for you and wishing you well at your next endevour! wow the Toronto review sends chills up n down my spine wishing I could have been there! at The L.A. show I caught Klaus looking at me every time I swung my arm back and forth the way he does and each time he made circles (whirl) with his arm after a song I would do the same and he and the others do notice and recognize the fans who play along with them....awesome! I would like to ask "what are the words Klaus says" in between songs that you mention here. I am just curious, gee being a follower you do learn so much about them. Well sorry to hear about your bumps and bruises I am so glad you didnt get caught up in a worst scenario, and I know what you mean when Del and I were so close to the catwalk (2nd row) in L.A. being that I am also short and having to look up (and it wasn't that high) from a shorties standpoint I woke up with a sore and stiff neck but well worth it for The Scorpions. I went to see my Chiro the following Monday and he said I was all tensed up and I knew it was all attributed to the excitement I had experienced seeing my fav group but I would do it all over again if given the chance to see them. So you are headed for N. Jersey I am jealous but wishing you a Rockin trip and experience hoping all goes well and that you can have a better experience at this one, Thanks for the review I'll be with you in Spirit...love to The Scorps, especially the one who threw me a kiss....I'm dreamin...."There's No One Like You"[color=#FF40FF]

Yeah and I can't afford a new camera...I just got lucky, I had plenty of air miles accumulated that I could use, but they are about out and my credit card is going to hate me for a long, long time!

No regrets, not sure if I'm making it to the New Jersey show though. :(

That's what I was told by someone who went to the meet & greet. I can only assume Rudy just needed more rest time. Heck, I'm tired and I've gone to 6 shows in NA, I can only imagine how they are doing. (Mind you, they didn't go east to west and back again, twice in a row...but I didn't perform on stage either!)

I have to say that I did meet some really nice folks in Toronto, a pity we didn't share info it would of been fun to stay in contact with them. (So hey if you were there, I was the one with a purple flag up front!)

It was definitely a really good show if it wasn't for that damn stage that only the tall folks could actually see past. I kept on thinking to myself "If some of the shorter members of the band were standing where I was, they would not of been please either!"
