Amazing? Do you think Justin Bieber and other MTV stuff is amazing too. I'll go as high as saying they are a nice band, but way way way over-rated. One word. Promotion. I have cd's from hundreds of bands, ot only hard rock and metal but also pop and new age and classical and classic, and U2 is not even in the top 100. A guitar player (The Edge) who has no edge as he never takes a guitar solo, let me correct that, he CAN'T play a guitar solo yet the educated fans name him as one of the top guitarists. So if the Edge is a guitar great for his rhythm guitar playing then Rudy Schenker is Yngwie Malmsteen and makes the Edge sound like punk band guitarist.

U2 popularity, cos good promotion = Not true.
They have many amazing songs that moves people, and thats just what good music do. Actually that kind of shows that they are doing something right, cos it seems they are kind of "love or hate" band. Thin line between love and hate... how true.

I understand totally if some rank Edge very high, when speaking about great guitar players. He has style that you immediately identify to him, thats something that not so many guitar players have after all . And he has made many classicsongs, so I dont see any reasons why you couldnt say his even best guitarist in the world. And this has nothing to do that can Edge play for exaple some hard Dream Theather guitarsolo. Music is not competition, its about emotions.

If Edge is the best gutarist in the world then Rudy is the best in the infinate universe because Rudy can run circles around the Edge in both emotion and style and has written many times better songs than the 4-5 good songs U2 has.

Newsflash, the Scorpions attempted a U2 style album when they did Eye To Eye. The album did not do well despite the songs on it being better than anything U2 has ever done. It's abut popularity and it being hip to like U2.
