INTERVIEW: Matthias Jabs, Very Positive Info. 6/12/12

German rockers Scorpions are considering a comeback concert at soccer's World Cup finals in Brazil in 2014 -six months after they wrap up their farewell tour.

The Wind of Change hitmakers will wrap up their lengthy farewell in Germany in December, but guitarist Matthias Jabs has assured fans that he and his bandmates could well be back onstage within 18 months.

He says, "We were approached to play for the opening of the World Cup Championships in 2014. That is not confirmed, but those opportunities, we would not let slip away."

And Jabs tells the Arizona Republic there could be more shows to come after the end of the farewell tour.

He explains, "Nobody has said we'll never hit the stage again, for one show somewhere in the world. Why not? If somebody wants to see us desperately, yes, OK, here we are.

"There's also the chance that we would get terribly bored just sitting around at home, and we would call each other and go, 'Let's play a few shows.' But the intense touring, the way we've been doing it for decades now, it had to come to an end.

"We're scheduled until December 15th this year. That's the last show. It's somewhere in a small town in Germany. After that, we don't know."

And Jabs insists the band will not be splitting up - because there's too much unfinished business in the studio.

He adds, "We have a project which we will probably release next year. We have so much film material. We will work on something like an anthology, some kind of box set."

BOTH MATTHIAS AND RUDOLF HAVE ALREADY SAID IN MANY INTERVIEWS THAT THIS WILL BE THE LAST WORLD TOUR, BUT THAT THEY "COULD STILL PLAY SOMETIMES TOGETHER AS SCORPIONS"

ANYWAY, I´VE SAID MANY TIMES TOO HOW I WOULD CALL THIS "WORLD" TOUR INSTEAD....

I started a FB page petitioning for them to play at Super Bowl 2013! But I really don't see that happening.
But I am glad they have been asked by WC. They like that sport better anyway.

Maybe since the band is going back and redoing unfinished material from 1982-1991. they can get the lineup back that first worked on that material. After this farewell tour James has stated he has been approach by many bands about joining them for tours and Pavel will go back to doing his Stirwater project. So it only makes senses to get Herman and Francis back in the band. Herman and Francis are back on speaking terms and bringing them back in the band and billing it as the CLASSIC LINEUP HAS RETURNED..would at least make alot of fans happy that they were not lied to back in January 2010 about this so-called retirement statement. Plus alot of fans that have jumped ship off the Scorpions bandwagon the last 20 years will jump back on for a reunion tour with the lineup who sold more albums then any other lineup in Scorps history.

For me it would be fantastic see the band with old lineup (never seen them with Francis and Hermann)but I have many many doubts about that,after what happened in Nancy(people say that the friendship with Francis is finished),what they did in the past NEVER come back again,surely they could sell more cd's but it would be a " family reunion" just for earn more money and NOT A REAL ONE...the magic feel of past years is gone away forever,I just hope they will play togheter for the last show
