I have a review!!
First I have to say that Red Rocks has to be the most beautiful place I have ever seen! What a gorgeous venue!! My husband and I did the meet and greet so we arrived there around 3:30 to meet up with our group between 4:00 and 4:30. They did an excellent job on the food...finger food on the upscale side. The gift bag is great too! I loved what it contained...I won't say in case anyone else wants to be surprised. While we waited for the band we had a spectacular view from the upper level of the venue! I am from Georgia but, what I can tell you about Red Rocks is that it's on top of a mountain and the stage sits between two huge boulders (rocks) with the stage at the bottom. Since we met with our group at the top we could enjoy the view for a good while. When it was time to go see the band we walked down steps a LONG way down! We waited about 10-15 minutes and then were taken backstage. Our group had about 20 people I think and as far as I knew there was no one from Colorado in it! We met Scorpsfan1 from Chicago, others were from Wyoming, South Dakota, Minnesota, Oregon. We lined up to get autographs. The guys sat at a table and we just walked by the table when it was our turn. The order they sat was Pawel, Rudolf, Klaus, Matthias and James. They were SO nice shaking hands, speaking to us, signing autographs, no problem getting a couple things signed. I have the book "Rock and Roll Forever" by Marc Theis so I had it open to the black pages that has a great picture of all band members and they each signed it with a silver pen! It is perfect! I couldn't be happier!! My husband had a t-shirt signed and a drum skin of James' signed by all members. They all shook my husband hand too! I said guten abend (me trying to speak german) to Rudolf and he said he hoped it wouldn't rain (it didn't! It was a perfectly beautiful night, warm with a nice breeze.) When I got to James he was holding my silver pen so I went to take it back and he grabbed my hand and drew a silver "X" on the back of it! After going thru the autograph line we circled back around to get in line for pictures. We were not allowed to take any ourselves back there but, that was fine with me, it made it more relaxed back there for us. We were right behind the stage still now and there is a wall of pretty red rocks back there that the guys posed in front of so that was the backdrop for our photo. When it was our turn we went..no rushing us like in 2010. My husband and I were in our picture together but, we didn't have to do it that way, we just wanted to. So I went between Klaus and Rudolf and Robert my husband went between Matthias and James. James did the choke hold on my husband (he loved it!) Rudolf and Klaus had their arms around my back! Yay! After the pictures we were escorted to our seats, 3rd row center, perfect seats right in front of the stage and the stage here is right at eye level! I could look all of them in the eyes, it was great!!
Tesla played first and they were really good so now I am a Tesla fan more than I was before! The video screen was not working for them but worked fine when the Scorps played. When they came out, I am not kidding you, they were on FIRE baby!! From "Sting in the Tail" to "Rock You Like a Hurricane" the energy never stopped! Incredible energy from the band to the audience and the audience gave it back!! It was fantastic from beginning to end and everyone was on top of their game playing like crazy!! I have to say the audience here in Denver was more into it than the audience in Atlanta in 2010 but maybe just because of a bigger venue. But, it was AWESOME!! And if you ask me these guys didn't look like they were ready to retire...!! In any case they went out with a bang for me!!! The whole experience could not have been better. I forgot to say I did buy a hoodie, very good quality...has "The Final Sting" on it, very nice!! I was SO happy with the setlist! These songs are just perfect and they just have so many GREAT songs! I was especially happy to hear "Still Loving You!" LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that song! We didn't get it in Atlanta so that was amazing for us since that is like "our song." To me it is the perfect setlist even though there are SO many more songs I'd love to hear live!

A shout out to Scorpsfan1! We had so much fun with you and Kara! So nice to meet you guys!!
Love's the only thing that matters...

I finally have time to write my review of the Red Rocks concert. It was AMAZING – a great show in a fantastic place! Patti’s review said a lot of what I wanted to say, so I’ll try to make mine different. :)

One funny thing – the day before the concert, we decided to go to Rocky Mountain National Park. We walk into the gift shop of the visitors center, and I’m looking at a rack of t-shirts, and I hear “Carrie? Sherry?” I turn around, and Sherry (scorpsdiva) and Kevin, and Tim (tscorps) and Marissa are there! I mean, seriously, what are the chances? Turns out we even parked next to them in the parking lot. We must have felt the Scorps vibes coming from the mountains. Lol Anyway, it was fun to run into them, and got us even more excited for the show the next day.

On the day of the show, we got to Red Rocks, and I immediately recognized Patti and Robert from her avatar. I agree with everything Patti said about the meet and greet – it was in such an awesome location. The room was really nice, and they gave us this huge patio overlooking the valley and the red rocks. It was really funny how we couldn’t find anyone that was from Colorado at the meet and greet – everyone we talked to had travelled from different states for the show. The meet and greets are always fun, because by the end, people start to bond with each other, and the show becomes a lot more fun because now you’re surrounded by people that you know. We had a lot of fun hanging out with Patti and Robert! 8)

When it was time to go meet the band, we climbed down (and down and down and down) a ton of stairs to the backstage area. While waiting to go in, we saw Sherry, Kevin, Tim and Marissa again, along with Sherry’s daughter and niece, and they came back as well. It was such a cool location to meet the band – we were backstage, looking out through the equipment at the crowd filing in, in this natural beautiful setting. The band sat at a table and we went through and got autographs. Carrie and I brought our pictures with the band from the Moline show in 2010, and each band member signed themselves in the pictures. Rudolf and Klaus were interested to know where the picture was taken. When it was time for pictures, they all lined up on the rocks, and one by one we climbed up next to them for our picture. They all seemed relaxed and happy, and it was a really fun start to the evening!

Our seats were incredible, like Patti said – lots of room, close to the stage and eye level with the band. The setting was so beautiful, and the acoustics were perfect - it was just awesome to be there. A funny thing when Tesla was playing, they gave a shout out to Sherry’s niece Tesla, who was actually named after the band! When the Scorpions finally came out, they were full of energy, and the show was great! Klaus seemed to be smiling through the whole show, and his vocals were spot on. The rest of the guys were in great form as well, running around, having fun, and playing their hearts out for us as always! It was great to hear “Is There Anybody There” and “Hit Between the Eyes”. I remember a Rockline interview back in the early 90’s where Matthias said “Hit Between the Eyes” was his favorite song to play live at the time, so it was great to hear again and it brought me back to those awesome concerts from 1991. It was hard to believe 21 years had passed!

The crowd was fantastic – the place was packed, and the crowd seemed to be really into the band. I didn’t take many pictures this time, because I just wanted to enjoy the concert without the distraction of the camera. It was tempting to keep snapping those pix, but I put the camera away and just enjoyed the music and the performance! There was a woman with her young daughter from Wyoming next to me, and at one point, Tim came over and gave the girl a drumstick. I saw her happily banging her drumstick in the air for the rest of the concert, but somehow I missed Tim coming over with it – I must have been rocking out to the Scorps when he came over. Tim – you made that little girl very happy! :D

As always, the concert was too short (I could listen to them for hours more, as I’m sure you’d all agree!) and it was over. We said our goodbyes to Patti and Robert and waved to Sherry and her group, and started the looooooong journey back up those stairs! But like others have said in a different topic, I left the concert satisfied and happy, not sad that it’s ending. I have one more concert to go, and I’ve decided not to be sad about it being my last one. It is always such a great time at Scorpions concerts, and I want to enjoy the sunset of their career as much as I did at the beginning. This was my 20th Scorpions concert and I enjoy the concerts even more now than I did back in the 80’s when I first started going. The Scorpions are such a class act, and always deliver! It was a perfect evening!
