Well, there is something called savage capitalism, the world we are living through. It's the law of supply and demand: they wouldn't make this kind of business if they wouldn't have customers fot that. This is the way it works.
Maybe it is a market experiment, if it works, they will keep doing this, if not, they would stop.
But for some fans, who can't find a way themselves to meet the band, they would pay fot that, since they have money, it's easier. So, it will work.

It's business. The pleasure of meeting your favorite band being transformed in goods for sale.

The day I'll have to pay to meet someone I respect and love, I'll ask to get out of the world at the next stop.

Some people could say "It's easy for you to say it since you've already met them."

But I could say that the only reason for me to meet them was my passion and respect for the band, it I would need to pay to meet them I would NEVER meet the band, since it wouldn't have any value to me. Money can't buy such a pleasure.

True.... if you pay and meet them, you know that they are there with you because they get money for it ! Not because they have decided to do so from their own will..

I remember the Michael Schenker Group in São Paulo this year. Some people paid to meet the Band, I mean, those who bought the vip pass, could meet the band at the end of the concert. I was there as photographer and I could talked to the band "for free",BUT Michael simply disapeared! LOL He didn't meet not even those who paid for this. Kind of ridiculous.

How about the person thats not a real fan .. but gets backstage through a friend and he has about 50 posters of an lp release .. and he stops the band to sign them all ..
hes not a real fan .. hes there to get them all signed so he can then go sell them all on ebay ..
Ive seen this b4 dating back to Crazy World ..
The last time was in 2002 someone had a stack of Acoustica posters ..
Rudy and Klaus stopped signing after 10 .. Im sure they knew he wast really a fan :x

How infuriating !!!! Like you said, a person like that is not a fan, he´s just using the band members for his own selfish reasons

Auch! It's a "good story" Tom, and I agree with you.
Anyway, Klaus, and Rudolf were too generous to the "fan".
I wouldn't have reached to 10 signs.
I would have stopped the signing after 3 posters.
I wouldn't have let him make me a total stupid.

Also look how much time this takes away the band from others ..

but in some rare cases it also can be a person who asks to sign for friends who couldn't go to the show (like living in other countries where scorps have never played). I remember that Galya asked Rudy to sign a pic for Phuong.

Inna, Rudolf wasn't even listening to me asking for it! He signed it automatically never paying attention neither to my words nor to my t-shirt (which said in capital letters "FOS"). I believe that James was the only who still was paying attention to his surroundings.

I wonder how long it took the owner to get rid of the unsigned vinyls...

But not 10 of the same type of posters Inna.

BECAUSE TODAY IT SEEMS ONLY MONEY IT´S IMPORTANT, AND NOT AUTHENTIC AND PURE FEELINGS.

I´VE SEEN THINGS LIKE THIS WITH MANY OTHER BANDS, AND BELIEVE, NOT EVERYONE THAT HAS PAYED THAT AMOUNT OF MONEY (OR EVEN MORE) IS A TRUE FAN...

WHILE THERE ARE TRUE FANS THAT DON´T PAY THAT BECAUSE THEY CAN´T AFFORD IT... OR JUST ´COS THEY DON´T SYMPATHISE WITH THAT WAY OF DOING THINGS
FOREVER AND A DAY

i think this kind of meetings are "cold".......they are there becouse u paid to meet them......
i prefer to meet the band in others circustance, and not becouse the money, but becouse u can feel when they like/love to stop for some time to talk with the fans
I'M PROUD THAT I'VE BEEN.......I'M......AND I'LL BE FOREVER YOUR FAN
YOU'RE THE BEST IN THE WORLD FOR EVERYTHING, THANKS FOR ALL YOU GAVE ME IN ALL THIS YEARS......FOREVER IN MY HEART AND IN MY LIFE
