Thx Kate for "appreciating" me. I will TRY to refrain from posting "oh whoa is us" comments. Actually, the way I feel today, I am tired of posting period.

And I agree that Mary has a "cooler" head and expresses herself differently, but with all due respect, she is NOT more intelligent or more cultured (is the right word actually) than the rest of us and I know she would agree becuz she is a good person. BUT that is just plain rude. These ppl you think are less than intelligent hold down very prestigous jobs that require high intelligence. Just becuz they get frustrated and express themselves and simply cuz people who are not Americans, can't understand how we express ourselves, and it has nothing to do with language complications, but simply a different culture and a different way of acting than the rest of you, doesn't mean they are stupid!!! I am soooo very tired of this whole thing right now.
And I don't give a *** who says anything right now. I am sooo over this b.s. I have far more important priorities to be concerned with than what is played where. nuff said...sorry for going off. :x And don't worry, I won't express my aggravation over what they give us or don't give us anymore. Rejoice!!! At least for now!!!!

Yes it was, and the setlist for concerts with orchestra has been exactly the same for those 11 years... The only "revolutionary" was the addition of Sting In The Tail and The Best Is Yet To Come.
But still, concerts with orchestra are more rare and I'm very happy I saw this. Real review later, will first do the Schweinfurt one.

On sunday I was working from 6 am to 5 pm and then I drove to Berlin I arrived at 8pm.
I took a underground train to the HRC where I arrived at round about 9pm.
I went upstairs with my travelling back and when I saw Michael and Thalia I greeted them and then the other persons I recognized from concerts and from last year at the HRC.
Some minutes later came James together with Nils on stage and greeted me and the other Fans and started to play some songs from his new album.
Later in the evening he told us that Pawel arrived and they played some songs and Salvatore got the Microphone and sang some Scorpions Songs
Salvatore I have to tell you...YOU KICK ASS!
After that Pawel and a musician from Berlin named V.-Michael MAD and made a great atmosphere
I left the Hard Rock Cafe long after midtnight
Before the show I met Michael Winkler, Thalia, Franck and Mad and the showed me a special Art Gallery..after that we sat us down and drunk something at a bistro

The show was good as always but the sound was bad in the back rows, so I was standing on the right side next to the stage.
After the concert I drunk a beer together with Lars and his niece....When I recognized that the Scorpions were on the way to the aftershow party. I looked for James and when he saw me he asked me If I have got the ticket and I told him that I've bought a ticket before the show.
James signed some stuff and then he put his arm around my shoulder and took me to the after-show party and Lars and his niece followed us.

Anyone who stood outside of the after-show party tent and who couldn't walked in, told to the Security that we are insinde without a VIP pass. And a woman came up to us and said we had to leave the tent because we don't have a VIP Pass. I told he,r that I am James "Date" and Lars and his niece belongs to me and we got a VIP pass.
Lars, his niece and I were up long after midnight at the party and next day I went back home to Denmark.

Part 1: Berlin underground & HRC

After an 8 hour drive without problems, your reporter arrived in Berlin. Because my car is too old to enter Berlin, I parked in a P&R just outside the Umweltzone and wanted to take the U-bahn from there. Although the ticket machine had a slot that said "mastercard" I didn't manage to pay with my bank card there. And of course I had forgotten my coin money at home, and the machine only accepted 5 or 10 € notes, which I also didn't have. But there was a kiosk near the station where they were so friendly to split a 50 € note for me. Armed with the newly acquired ticket, I went down in the subway, full of expectation for the accurate and efficient German public transport. After some minutes of studying the scheme with the lines, a friendly German lady asked where I was going. "Then you have to take that one, I'm also taking that one". After changing train 2 times I finally arrived in Berlin Mitte where my hotel was (very close to Gendarmenmarkt, where the concert was). To go to the centre, you had to start going to the centre, then take another train that went back, and then another one in direction centre again.
katerina wrote:Aaaaaaaah, have fun with the subway

I guess I can't say I wasn't warned...

After checking in in the hotel I made a short walk in Berlin, and realised I had not only forgotten the memory card for my camera, but also wanted to take something that I left in the car, to the party in the HRC later in the evening. So I took approximately the same trains as earlier, but in the other direction, and then back, but not completely, because to go to Kürfürstendam where the HRC is, I had to take another one. While I was on the way I already got a message from Jess "where are you, Kottak is in the HRC". I wans't too worried about that, because I could not imagine James as someone who would leave the café before closing time.

When I arrived there Kottak had already done some songs, and shortly after I arrived, they started playing BCN, and James gave his mic to Salvatore. I have to say Salvatore sang really well, maybe my redaction who could listen to a part of this amazing performance, can confirm that. They played some more songs, from which I only remember RYLAH, where we could hear Dasha singing for the whole HRC, even without mic, at least in my memory it was like that. Pawel was also playing during most of the songs.

After that there was some time to have photos taken or things autographed by James. Because your reporter wanted to appear as a professional fan, and not as some amateur, I had brought the sleeve of a Kingdom Come LP, on which James was playing. Before signing it he was looking in an interested way to the photos of the KC bandmembers, maybe he was thinking something like "I still looked better in those days".
After this signing session they started doing some more songs.

After the party was finished, I started going back to the hotel, together with Jess and her friend. They wanted to take a taxi so we started walking along the Kürfürstendam, first in the right direction and then in the wrong direction. There was also a moment enjoyment of the german gastronomy in between there somewhere, but in the end, I don't remember how exactly, we did end up in a taxi and we were on the way to our hotel.

I believe he was remembering the old times, or the last time they met each other. You know, James, Lenny and Rick are still good friends.

Part 2: Scorpions with orchestra

The Monday morning I first went back to the Kurfürstendamm to buy a memory card for the camera. In the afternoon I walked around a bit in Unter Den Linden and Tiergarten park, before I went back to Mitte. Before the concert, we had dinner together with Brigitte and some of her French and Swiss friends. Unlike with normal concerts, nobody needed to have any kind of stress to find a good place, because this was a concert with numbered seats.
I had lost the others a bit while entering the Gendarmenmarkt. But that was no problem, we were all in the same row anyway. In block J row 4 were, starting from the midlle, Jess' cameraman, Jess herself, Dasha, Brigitte and 6 of her friends, your reporter, and 2 fans from Polish fanclub. 8)

After some time we saw some people of the orchestra coming on stage and starting to tune their instruments. Then there was a speaker giving some information about the Classic Open Air concerts, and some history about the Scorpions Moment Of Glory project. 8)

We didn't have to wait long before the Scorps hit the stage and opened (surprisingly for a concert with orchestra) with SITT. During this 1st song there was something missing for me. But right from the 2nd song, even from far away, there was a special feeling of proximity, and this lasted during the whole concert. I had not experienced this before, maybe partly, during some moments, but not a complete concert. :D :D
From where we were seated all the instruments could be heard perfectly and Klaus' voice was the clearest I have ever heard on a concert. The concert was in 2 parts, with a 30 minute break in the middle. I thought this was to be able to sell more beer and food, but according to my redaction, the main reason had to be, that some of the classical instruments needed re-tuning, especially because it was in open air. 8)
About the open air, it really was a fantastic location, as you can see on that link I put. The "classical" architecture was a perfect background for such a concert. Forgive me for not using the correct term for that type of architecture, (I have succesfully erased all those things I learned in school from my mental hard drive) but I mean the type of buildings in a similar style as ancient Greek or Roman buildings. It was very nice in the beginning with the sun and daylight, but in the end of the concert it was getting dark, and that was also creating a more special atmosphere. :)

The "classical touch" gave something extra to this concert, and the setlist-with-orchestra was a nice variation from the normal rock concert setlists. It already started with "New generation", that I had only heard during soundchecks before, but never on a concert. And even when it wasn't the first time, I'm always happy to hear "We'll burn the sky". I've heard it now from Scorps + Uli, Scorps without Uli, Uli without Scorps and now Scorps + orchestra. I really think this is my favourite Scorps song. It was also the first time I heard "We don't own the world" and "You and I" live. In between these 2 they played "Send me an angel", I've heard it on almost every concert I went to already, but it is something different with orchestra. On this last recording it's also good to hear how Klaus voice sounded. The sound was so good, it was like we were watching a concert DVD. The last song before the break was "The best is yet to come", a song I really learned to appreciate over time. And the arrangment with classical instruments also gave it something special this time. 8)

In our 4th "FOS-row" we were about the only people in our block who were standing up during most of the songs, and sangalong and applauded etc. The people around us were probably more the typical classic orchestra public. Klaus and Matthias seemed to have noticed that there was a small group of not-completely-silent-audience in our corner, and were giving signs of appreciation.
During the break most people went to buy some drinks and food. I had a short chat with Dasha during this short break, and it seems the people in front of her did not fully appreciate her vocal qualities. Clearly not the average rock concert audience.

When Klaus was "giving away" drum sticks (yep, even during a classical concert they do their best to get rid of some of those) he was mostly throwing them to the real diehard VIP fans on the right, who didn't have tickets for seating places, and were following the concert from improvised standing places. Among those people I think I spotted Sarah, David and Salvatore with his son. It was funny to see how the security was almost in panic, whenever that stampede of rock fans was running forward (away from their place!!!!) to catch the goodies.

After the break it was maybe even better than before the break. I'm repeating myself, but the known songs like "No one like you" and "SLY" get something extra with this orchestra touch. (I have to repeat myself, I had to find a way to link these 2 songs as well...). I was very looking forward to hear the "Deadly sting thing" live, and that was really one of the highlights, not only for me, I heard that Jess was also very impressed with that one. In the grande finale we got real fireworks on and off stage. Cool. Groovy. Awsum. 8) :D

So, this was my last part.
