Can I say at this point that none of you will be disappointed... I sort of have an inside link to the book and trust me, I am certain you will find it both informative and entertaining. It is written in a manner quite different from others that may take themselves way too seriously. Herman's approach was to write this book in a very light-hearted way with the idea of having fun and sharing with you the celebration of a great band. It is in line with his audiobook and yet it goes way beyond not only in storytelling but... Well, I have to keep some secrets.

Herman will be on tour for the book for a couple weeks in the fall but only in California and Nevada at this point. A schedule will follow as will all information on Herman's website.

Also, it will be available worldwide through all the normal online outlets not just in the U.S..It is meant for all to enjoy.

By the way, just to wet your appetite, here's a little tidbit... A morsel if you will... It comes from the chapter about their first visit to Moscow... I think it will show you the spirit of his writing...

As the plane went in and out of the clouds on its final approach, I continually found myself looking anxiously for some familiar site like the Kremlin or Red Square. I did not realize at the time that both were more than 20 miles to the east of the airport runway. And so from my vantage point, as I looked below, I could only see what appeared to be a smattering of small homes not so different from those in my own country. How could it be, I thought, that people who not only represented the enemy for so many years but also dominated pairs figure skating with the help of the “puppet” judges from the “Eastern Block”, could possibly live in a manner that was not so different from myself

Hi Mands, and thank you for your recommendation, and that little bite of taster.

Of course, I do trust Herman's intelligence, and like this piece of the book, so, of course, I can revidiate my claiming.

How come Herman, who for the most part has been less active than Rudolf for the last 15 years can get a book done in English? See, it's easy to do, obviously Rudolf does NOT WANT to do it in English.

And also who wants to buy a book about yoga and a lifestyle from a rock star who has not been in the American spotlight since 1991..anyone here in America goes to see the Scorpions and it takes about 4 or 5 songs for anyone to recognize the blond hair Rudy even though he has had that color since 1996. It's real simple here in North america.." out sight out of mind"..and when you stop touring our country like the Scorps had done up to last year being the first full tour of our country since 2003 nobody cares about you except for the 10 or 15 americans on this site..

Herman has always loved AMERICA!!!! and i for one will buy his book!!!

Yes, I know, I know, I shouldn't come here, and post, really, but Rudolf absolutely deserves my defence, so:

1. Rudolf wants to publish the book English, HE DOES.
I don't speculate/think it, I know it.
He has a plan, but I don't want to post anything without his permission, just wana break some misunderstandings, and bad pictures down about Rudolf.

2. Allthough I am not american, but I really want to read a yogy-type-book of a rockstar, in part, because I am interested in yoga, meditation, and better, and better in Buddhizm, for me direct exciting, and interesting to get to know a total different side of a rockstar like I have already known.

I do like, and respect Herman also, of course.

Lars does say "why wouldn't they want to print it in English when so many thousands want it that way?" Well Lars, you tell us then darlin, cuz so far I haven't heard any real good explanation for printing it an obscure language before the most read language in the world. And I am sure Rudolf doesn't want us to know he has a "plan" if it's so secret.
I have told Herman that I can't wait to get his book. It's gonna be a doozy I feel! :P

It appears that the discussion about Herman's book has slowed a bit in recent days which means maybe it's time for another tidbit... It is due out in September... It is available presently for preorder on Herman's website... But perhaps you're hoping for something a little juicier... Here's a little something to rewet your appetite...

Let's see if I get your stirred up with this...

The song “Another Piece of Meat” is, believe it or not, actually a true story like most all of my lyrics. And again, no, it’s not a personal story about my recruitment/kidnapping to join the band! It’s about a girl in Japan I dated during the first visit. She was in essence a gap filler in between visits to the Geisha houses, playing concerts and the countless trips to the bathroom I was forced to make as a result of the dish of Krishna and Kumar’s ice cream I had in India. And, of course, let’s not forget the general overall debauchery we partook in that became a way of life for all of us. This young lady, darling as she was, for some unexplainable reason, had an affinity for not only the music of the Scorpions but also the sport of Kickboxing. Don’t know if there was a correlation, but I hope it was only coincidental not indicting through guilt by association.

To all who may be interested... The early reviews by fans of the book posted on Amazon.com are, to say the least, incredible!!!! A must read for all. At least that is the indication of those who have read it. All rank it as Five Stars and one claims it is the best ever written! If you get a chance, visit Amazon US and read the reviews. If you haven't gotten the book, I think it is the fastest way to get a copy.

REVIEW BY CRISTY

Well, I just finished "And Speaking Of Scorpions" and needless to say I'm disappointed. Disappointed you ask? Yes, so very disappointed that I'm done. My exquisite ride has come to an end. But, just like a great movie you go to see again, I will most definitely be revisiting Herman's playground again and again with full expectations that I will read new things that I may have missed previously.
Some may call this book a bit self-indulgent on Herman's part, but as far as he is concerned, it's his truth. Don't get me wrong; until another member writes a book of those days and contradicts his "truth", (which more than likely will never happen) then I too accept it as truth.
The book is unique in its format, as it is written much like as if Herman is sitting in front of you telling you these events. For the most part it flows casually and although he at times meanders in his reminiscence, he never strays far from his original premise. Even with his occasional straying, he keeps one glued to the storyline, anticipating his return to it. It's all good; I like the informality of it all.
Now for those of you looking for juice about his band mates, remember, these are his friends or better yet his brothers from another mother and he not only exhibits wisdom in keeping those secrets to himself, he shows immense loyalty to these bunch of guys. Sure there are one or two naughty little happenings, but he never lets on as to who is involved. I find that refreshing.
Don't misunderstand me too much, I would be remiss not to admit that he had me salivating with some of his stories and secretly lusting for more. After all, I am human. But in the end, he still held my attention and interest without all the sordid details and I came away with a huge respect for the man's discretions and ultimately showed how much love he has for his brothers. He doesn't sell out for sales sake.
If you're looking for nothing but lascivious specifics about a band, read Gene Simmons or Nikki Sixx's books. But if you love Scorpions, as I do, and want to find out how times were for the bad boys in their Golden Days and how Herman Ze German fit into this well-oiled machine and his eventual sad departure, then buy this book.
Now with the end of the era of the most successful band to come out of Germany and who took the world by storm, er' I mean hurricane with pure adrenaline pumping, hard driven, yet wonderfully melodic hard rock to sweep throughout 4 decades and several generations; Herman gives us the most delightful recounting of what it was like to be part of that history. How many rockers out there can lay claim to that legacy?
With that said, you find a surprise at the end, for Herman turns a corner and becomes very philosophical and even spiritual. He tells an entertaining rock and roll story and then tells you the pitfalls of such an existence. It's not all fun and games people. I find it a warning to all who think it's a dream life, that such dreams can become nightmares. That is when you have to wake up and make the choice of whether the life on the road with a huge rock and roll band and making the wrong decisions, is worth your soul. I am still in awe of this book and recommend it highly.
I would like to see a "Part Two", if you will, actually. Filled with funny road stories; not just the sex and drugs part, but with all those years in the band, there must be tales of hilarious and even dramatic events that the fans of Scorps would find exciting. Even if it's the most mundane, according to the teller, I, for one, wish to hear more.
Thanks to Herman Rarebell and Michael Krikorian for this superb book.

This book was recently released here in Brazil and I started reading it today. I loved the Brazilian cover! http://instagram.com/p/Pexn9lCLgr/

I just thik that the title in Portuguese is weird, it's very different from the original one: "Scorpions: Minha história em uma das maiores bandas de todos os tempos" In english it would be something like: "Scorpions: my story in one of the greatest bands of all times."
For now, I'm loving it. So many books from university to read and I'm reading about Scorpions
