Since I didn’t have the whole day off, my morning was the same as any other work day: woke up at 7 , got ready for work, pack camera and some extra batteries but i almost forgot about the ticket.
Had a quiet day at work and as time passed I felt more and more impatient because I was dying to go to the venue. Just to make everything a little more exciting, at noon a big storm came over Bucharest. It rained, but by the time I left the office sky was clear again.
At 3pm I caught a cab and i was on my way to the Zone Arena! Traffic was against me and we were moving with the speed of a snail. Finally I got there! Still, I had a little problem: my camera. According to their rules, I could get in with it but I still was afraid because even if it doesn’t have removable lenses it has 12X optical zoom and it can be considered semiprofessional. So, I called my friend Bogdan (scorpys73) He was media partner for the show and he had a Press pass for me.
First surprise was the stage. Of course I’ve seen it before, but the closer we got, the higher it was. Don’t know if it was a mistake or a request from the band, but it was really bad to see an empty space during the show at the foot of the T.
I chose to stay there though on the left corner so I can see James, Pawel, Rudi and sometimes Klaus.
It was almost time for the gates to open but nothing happened at 4.pm. As pretty much everything in Romania, they weren’t ready. The gate for Golden circle wasn’t even built. They finished it at 5pm and only then they opened the gates.
As people came in (well, they were running…
The show was amazing and the audience was great! Klaus was a little bit puzzled at one point by people reaction: he was playing with us, making us sing after him but the crowd began to stomp their feet on ground. I could read on his face: wtf?!? Everything was ok when he heard: SCORPIONS! SCORPIONS!
At the end they were so nice to give us an extra bonus: when the smoke is going down.
After the show we took some pics (Curry is already famous in Romania) and I ran to t-shirt tent. Now I’m the very proud owner of a M sized sting in the tail t-shirt which is like a dress for me but it has Romania written on the back
From now, the magic part of the night begins…
We decided to go at the hotel. Bogdan and his wife had left, I called Anakin but he said they are tired and still have a long drive back home… so, it was just me and Curry.
We arrived in front of Hilton but we couldn’t see a soul. Took a deep breath and got inside. Passed the front desk area, the conference rooms and here we are at the end of the lobby with a bar on the right and a restaurant on the left. Checked out the bar but they weren’t inside and tried to look in the restaurant but couldn’t see anything. We thought that they are already in their rooms and we sat on a couch hoping they will come down.
Got my camera ready and a pen with SITT cd cover and we start talking. We thought about leaving several times but we kept talking until… we saw James!
He was so nice! A little bit changed from last time when I met him in Munich, but a good change. He told us the guys are still at the restaurant and we should wait. Thank you, James!
Next was Matthias. He was smiling like someone was tickling him. We took pics, he signed my CD cover and as he went away, he turned for another wave.
Oh, God! We were in heaven already!
The first to actually sit down and talk to us was Pawel. He asked about nightlife in Bucharest, answered our questions and after kissing our hands again, went to his room.
Then happened something we never expected. Klaus came out of the restaurant and stopped to talk to us.
He spent so much time with us. I couldn’t believe that this happened to us. At some point a man crossed the lobby and stopped to tell Klaus he came from Israel for the show. He went up to his room and came down with his camera. Klaus said: let’s take a picture! And we thought: that was it… but we were so wrong! After our older fellow fan left, Klaus sat down with us. I think he spent about 20 – 30 minutes with us. More than we ever dreamed of! Thank you, Klaus! You rock!
Unfortunately after that we had to go… It was 3am and I had to work that day. I wish I could have stay longer and meet Rudi too. Maybe that will happen in November. I already am thinking about a Scorps week: Paris + Brussels
