Hello from England :)

Unread postby brunnhilde » January 22nd, 2011, 9:46 pm

Hello everybody - I've been a huge fan for about 25 years & am hoping that the tour will get to the UK pls pls pls! I'm British but my partner is German - sadly he's not a fan... :? but you can't have everything
This means I speak very poor German with an appalling accent (apparently)... 8)

I also love Wagner...

Tschüss!

Thanks for the fantastic big welcome everybody :D

Jörg (my German partner) does indeed drink wine, but musically it's MUCH MUCH worse  - I'm ashamed to say he likes disco...oh dear

I've tried to help him, I really have  - it's a good thing he makes up for it in other ways

I mean his motorbike of course

Haha! If you adapted to the local accent, it must be that you have a feeling for languages!
So I don't believe what you say about your German accent.

I get told off about my accent on a daily basis by my man :x - annoyingly his english is excellent so we speak mostly english day to day, though I love learning German 8)

...and he still has trouble with "v" & "th" 8)
you should hear him say "Aston Martin V8 Vantage"

yes - he's never mastered the word "clothes"

"squirrel" is a bit of a challenge too

on the other hand, my grasp of the umlauter vowels is so poor I'm not convinced I even say his name right

Hello Brunnhilde! Welcome aboard. Greetings from Russia! :D
Disco? Well, I'd say that it's better than rap.

My name is Galya and I also learn German... at least I am taught this language at the Uni.

It's pretty easy to remember the pronunciation of those ö, ä and ü, but I can't remember to do it in a right way when I read some text aloud. Btw, we have a topic "Schprechen Sie Deutsch?" here in Introduce Yourself, so you can see it for yourself how desperate I am in this language.

PS: a good one, Hans!
