That's right Inna, I still love my automatic Panasonic, even after being introduced to DSLRs now. It takes amazing pix, it just doesn't have the capabilities of a DSLR needed if you are going to be serious about your photography. And NO you don't have to be serious about ur photography to buy a DSLR   it's just more financially savvy!! :P

Digital single lens reflex cameras.. It's the kind of camera that take interchangeable lenses only in digital.

Gata tell ya .... my life has been SO dang busy since December when I moved (by the way still own two houses till the end of this month) that I haven't even had time to take any photos :( and that has been made me rather sad becasue I really love to take photos. :( Also, I don't share any of my older photos because ... and I know noone will believe me but really I am kinda shy!

The Loveland Photography Society has renting some space at Centura by the shops and is selling their members photos this weekend. I was actually just there and saw some amazing photography. Gata say though I was stunned when I saw some of the photos were going for $700 and up. :o Wish I was that photographer! :D  8)

my first publication on a newspaper

Unread postby RobertaForster » March 28th, 2009, 4:25 am

Well, as some of you know, I work for the São Paulo cityall, to the press area of a Subcityhall (there are 31 subcityhalls all over the city)
I use to write, take pics and upload the news on this subcityhall website (a part of the main cityhall website).
When I moved from the human ressources to the internal press, I have requested a profissional camera, flash and filters. After a long time, it was aproved and bought and it arrived just this week! So, I can take pics professionally at my work now :)
So, this week, the editor of the Official Newspaper of São Paulo city (where all about the whole city hall is published) saw one off my publications at the Subcityhall website and asked me to make something bigger about that subject to be published. It was about a public library which was working at night and weekends. I took the pics and wrote the article and it was published yesterday, at one of the main pages of that edition, a whole page! lol
There is the image of the page: http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/6366/b ... olimpo.jpg
(Gilberto Kassab is the mayor, and that symbol is the crest of the city)
When I sent the pics, the guy was impressed with them and he just put that one at the top cause he really enjoyed that! This is a not usual point of view at the books :)

This is the article at the cityhall website:
http://portal.prefeitura.sp.gov.br/noti ... 09/03/0001

Just to let you know: "Prefeitura" means "Cityhall"
:P

It´s awesome! The picture of the books is really great and your text is also very good! Congrats Ro :D

Well, yesterday morning I woke up before 6am cause I had something to do. I hate waking up early, specially when it´s still dark outside. So I woke, got out of bed, had breakfast, and around 6:20 I decided to open the windows of the apartment. I was sooo shock when I saw that beautiful dawn in shades of pink and purple! I immediately thought "Damn, if only I had a good camera!!!" And I didn´t. The only good camera we have at home is my brother´s and he was sleeping and the camera was in his room, and you don´t tickle the lion while it´s sleeping you know...
So all I got are the pics with my cell phone:

♫♪ And how can I live without you? You’re such a part of me and you’ve always been the one keeping me forever young. And the best is yet to come!♫♪

First Pati I have to laugh about the don't tickle the lion comment  second OMGosh girl, for a cell phone those pictures are amazing. Oh gosh I wish I could get daybreak photos, but I face the north. When the weather starts to get better, I should go out there at the break of dawn and get some pics to add to my Gallery. Thank you for those girl!! :P

Pathe, the pics you have taken with a cellphone are awesome! I wish I would have seen some "after-sunset-sky" like this when I went to Porto Alegre!

Yeah I need to delete the one of my cat. I want to practice first before I post animal pix. I have some of dogs that are with owners walking but I am not happy with them. They are cute tho.
Good I want to see ur picture.
I sure do need to get a car, but I can't afford one and I can't get financed cuz I don't make enuf!! :( With a car, my opportunities of taking a variety of photos would increase immensely!! Thx Ro for your critique!! kisses

Cristy, photography is a world of endless possibilities. I'm sure you can explore a lot studding the camera and making different experiences even when you can't get out. Good luck ;)
