It was a first book, that I read in english language. Hmm...I like philosophical books, but this novel was...too easy? Too artificial? In Poland a lot of people don't like Paulo Coelho, because he's writing books for the masses, but opinions are divided. I'm not antagonist this writer( what can I say reading only one book?), but in fact, Alchemist isn't high-flown.
Linaya, you are alittle right about Alchimist.

Of course, it isn't the highest philosophical level, (I have already red higher-leveled books in philosophy and I will do I bet,)
but I found some really wise and interesting thoughts, although I admit that Coelho's book belong to commercial stuffs.

The last book I read was "Moving Pictures" by Terry Pratchett.

I just finished "Casino" (Nicolas Pileggi) which a movie came out after by Martin Scorsese with Robert de Niro, Joe Pesci and Sharon Stone .... Excellent book (if we like kind of mafiosi things)
