HARDI don't agree with You. I think, that Żeromski's style is hard.
His "Syzyfowe Prace" was torment for me.

I meant... His works are so pompous, it may be interesting, cause it's so romantic, illogical sometimes but I'm not a fan
I'd prefer modernistic poetry, really! It, it was one of my favourite epoch at Polish lessons I love "Eviva 'l arte" poem by Kazimierz Przerwa-Tetmajer http://monika.univ.gda.pl/~literat/tetmajer/018.htm

Yes Mary, you remember it absolutely correctly.

I like Agatha Christie books very much, she is one of the biggest master of crimestories for me.
I have read plenty of books of hersMurder is announced" is one of her best and most interesting story.
Anyway, I prefer much better the MS. Murple stories to the Poarot's, because they are more interesting for me, caracters are analized better, and I adore figure of that cute old lady.

So sorry my polish friends but I know only Sienkievic as part of polish literature, but he is great. Originally posted by skorpsfan1
Great topic, Gaby!I had my hallway painted the other day and had to clear off the bookshelf to move it, and when I was putting the books back I came across a bunch of Agatha Christie books that I haven't read in years and years. So I decided the time was right to read them again. Right now I'm reading "A Murder is Announced." Gabi, am I right in thinking that you like Agatha Christie's books?

I'm glad you like it anything from Polish literature but personally I can't stand his style, lol. Though officially he's one of the greatest our writers.
About Hungarian, also the only writer I know is Ferenc Molnar; I've read his book at school, I just found hungarian tittle: "A P¡l utcai fiºk". I remember it was excitin at the time

Yes Linaya, of course I did, although I was about 20 at that time, and I admit that it was abit sappy lol, but ok, the story it self about that historical time was interesting.

As for Moln¡r Ferenc, I don't like his books.
We had to read "p¡lutcai fiºk" in elementary school, but somehow it was so depressive for my child-soul lol.
Perhaps you still remember Kasia, that a little boy (Nemecsek Ernő) will be sick and die at the end of the story, and it was so depressive for me as for an about 10-year-old girl, and I hated those fights for a ground beetwen the two boy-teams.

I'm glad, that my favourite topic is so popular.
