No offense to user DefLep and others who like Def Leppard, but I have always had a problem with the path they went down. Now don't think I absolutely hate them, BUT - Def Leppard had balls on the first two releases (On Through The Night and High 'n' Dry) I loved those records. Then they met up with Mutt Lange, everything changed. He decided to take them on as his pet studio project, trying to make them the perfect pop rock act. He succeeded I must admit (wow! $$$), but in my opinion he changed their whole sound so much I just didn't feel the spark that Def Leppard had in the beginning anymore. You listen to Shania Twain's newer stuff (his wife) and it sounds very much like Def Leppard (at least from a production standpoint). I think it's a totally manufactured "Mutt Lang" sound - sugary, safe, overproduced, layered vocals (up to 100 Joe Elliot vocs!), pop hit machine stuff. I know everyone in Def Leppard is an incredible musician, and I can't blame them for choosing to go with Mutt on a success level, I just think it's a shame when a really great band loses their balls to be successful. Sorry! Don't hate me for my opinions! PS: 2 albums Mutt Lang worked on are classics though - AC/DC Highway to Hell and Back In Black (I guess AC/DC didn't let him change their sound)

No offense taken Splatt66. Have you ever heard Slang? I just thought you might like that album, because they just completely went away from their usual sound and did what they wanted to. It's much more down-to-earth.

Hey DefLep, you're actually right they did sound a lot more back to basics on Slang. I'll have to give it another listen. Peace!

Kuba, have you actually heard every single Def Leppard song? Or are you just not familiar with what the term "pop" refers to? Now, it may be an opinion to say they are a heavy metal group in general or not, but I know they have some songs that are not pop (On Through the Night). I just hope you make sure you've actually heard all their music before you judge them so harshly. Also, what do you mean by "so nothing for us." I don't want to make a false assumption of what you meant by this so maybe you could clear it up for me.
I hope I haven't offended you by anything I said - peace to all fellow Scorpers.
