UNBREAKABLE TOUR LIVE DVD - REVIEW

Unread postby dnote » July 13th, 2005, 1:35 am

The DVD arrived today to Portugal, finally!!! after 3 weeks of the released in Europe!

So.. here comes my review.....:

After almost 3 hours seeing the DVD i have some good and bad things to say.....

Let's start with the good ones:

- The band's performence is AMAZING, AWESOME... they are simply GREAT on stage!!!
- The Cover is excellent, very good design and creativity.
- I like the intro of the open concert.. is very cool since the crowd is very cold. So that intro is a good way to hide the cold crowd. The graphics are also very cool!!
- The booklet is awesome, the colors, the graphics and the design. Very good work with the pictures also!

The bad things.. (unfortunatly too much):

- The CROWD is a SHAME!!! Sorry to say this, but is the true, i never saw a Rock Concert with so bad crowd!
- To much cuts on the songs.. "new generation"; "blackout"; "blood too hot"; "through my eyes" and so on..
- Bad mixing on the images with the sound, we can see very often that, for example on "blood too hot", there's one part of the song were we can listen klaus voice first and then the image of klaus singing. This is a SHAME.. bad work, very bad work on the mixing! Also the passage of the song "through my eyes" to "blackout" is very stupid and unprofessional!
- Mixing two concerts.. when the DVD title is "one night in vienna" and not "one night in vienna and mainz". that's also a shame.
- The Rockumentary is nothing speciall, there's nothing that we don't knew yet! i was hope that we can see rare stuff and rare storys about their 40 years of Career, but in the end we have nothing new. Also James and Pawel don't talk too much and i don't like that. For example James could talk a lot of things since 1996 and he only talk about one minute in a 70 minutes documentary! That's not very understanding thing.
- The DVD is very poor on stuff. For example they could do a short documentary of the Unbreakable Tour, with interviews, backstage..
- The Remember the Good Times is studio sound.
- Not having a correct release date for all continents. Portugal was the LAST country in Europe to have the DVD and remember we're also EUROPE!
- Last but not least, my big disapoint. NO SUBTITLES IN PORTUGUESE!!!! WHY ????????????????? Portuguese is one of the most speaking languages in the world!!! i can't understand that. you did the same with ACOUSTICA. is a shame!! you sell a lot your DVD's here. and not many people understand english!!!!! we deserved subtitles in portuguese. For example why not Greek language on the DVD???? you forgot that Greece was the only one country where you were on number 1 with Unbreakable ???? The fans must be respected!!!!

My Rating:

- The band's performence: 10/10
- Cover: 10/10
- Concert mixing: 5/10
- Rockumentary: 7/10
- The Clip: 8/10

For die-hard fans this DVD is nothing speciall. For the general people it's a normal DVD. Not bad, but not great! Just normal!

In my opinion The Scorpions could do a lot more. They have a very rich 40 years of Career and a lot of things to tell and show.

So my rating in General is:

- One Night in Vienna DVD: 7/10

The only consolation is... finally we have an actual Rock concert with 5.1 quality sound!

exactly, that is, that simple, but not only BMG, also the people around the scorps: management, producer, etc. they should reconsider their staff

Congratulations dnote!!!
You said totaly my opinion too. I just wrote about same few weeks ago when I watched the DVD. The sound of the show is perfect but I never will understand why they couldn't make a NEW documentary with old and rare materials from their about 40(!) years!
...btw...few days ago I watched the documentary what was the german TV Deutsche Welle in 1999 and I compared with the new DVD! I have to tell you not just the film is same, the voice of the english narrator too!!! So they were putting the same video into the DVD without any cutting or changing!

I´m glad to hear that you got the DVD. I agree with you in some points, but for me it doesn´t count if the crowed rocks so much or not. The Scorpions rocks and they make a real good show. Some steps from Vienna to Mainz... ok, but what we have is a great concert with the great songs from Unbreakable. Rudi and Klaus are the "speakers" of the Scorpions. Everytime I sah them on TV, there are Klaus or/and Rudi who gave interviews.
I´m sorry that the DVD don´t come out in Portuguese. In my opinion the manager (or whoever is in charge of this job) will have a hard job to find translator all around the world to bring out the DVD in every languages. If they do this, we must pay a lot of money for it.The Scorpions sing all their songs in english and I think, that the most of their fans understand the english version of the DVD, cause they also understand their lyrics. English is the world-language and I also have my problems with it (but that´s not new)
I agree with you that BMG must make a better job by mixing the pics with the sound and I also agree that the DVD is not the best for a die-hard fan. I couldn´t see the Scorpions live on stage and so the DVD is very special for me. I enjoy it so much.

KEEP ON ROCKING

i am very sad..

after such a good works on the Master-Pieces: Moment of Glory and Acoustica, i can't understand why they did such a poor DVD.

we deserve more and The Scorpions could do it more i know they could!!! but they have an ashame management and publisher BMG ARIOLA!

unfortunatly!

Anyway not all is bad and i am enjoying the band's performence which is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's really pity to see such great band with such bad management..
The funny thing is that on the documentary Rudolf talks about how good he was at fixing gigs and promoting the band when they were new..and now when they have reached the summit it seems they suddenly handled over the management to amateurs or what??
First they did a lousy "limited edistion" of unbreakable, many of us here critisized the there was nothing special with the limited edition comapring the regular one..and now i see the this limited edition has a lower price than the other one on the stores here in Sweden!!
Now they made exactly the same mistake, putting a "non special" documentary on the DVD.. What's the problem guys, plz wake up and look around you...

I think the management must have a look into the forum, to know what the fans want. The Scorpions love their fans and make a lot of "meat and greets" behind the stage. But they can´t make all their decision alone. The management and BMG makes also a lot of decisions. And I´m sure that they don´t know what the family of spiders want. The Scorpions want the best for us, but their helping hands don´t make it real

KEEP ON ROCKING
