I am wearing:

"Canadian Cancer Society Relay For Life"
HOPE
Our Reason to Relay
http://www.cancer.ca

I was in the Relay for Life yesterday and I walked for 12 hours, I raised almost 500 dollars, I'm burnt from head to toe and I have blisters on the bottom of my feet.

I did this because I lost my best friend to Cancer on January 31, 2004 and because both my Mom and my Sister are SURVIVORS.

I will wear this shirt with pride.

Deanna, I am sorry to hear about your friend. And I'm glad to hear that your mom and sister were able to beat it.

Kathy, I hope your mom is doing well.

My little city of 20,000 raised $75,000 yesterday and this event has taken place or will take place in many many towns and cities across Canada...

And as I walked yesterday, I thought to myself "With all these millions of dollars ARE WE NOT GETTING ANY CLOSER TO FINDING A CURE TO BEAT THIS DREADED DISEASE???"

And as I signed a message to my best friend Tanya, My Mom Laurie and my sister Christine on the Mural of Hope, the tears began to flow.

It was an honour and a privelage to take part in the very worthwhile event and I will continue to take part in these type of events as long as I am able.

Unfortunately, because so much of those millions don't reach the right places. But that's a whole other issue. We have to keep trying.

One of my dearest friends is in remission and will fight Hodgkins for the rest of her life. The strength that these patients display in fighting this disease leaves me speechless. My daughter will be walking the Relay for Life next weekend.

My t-shirt today? Sox Pride - It's About Us.

Tonia

Thank you for your well wishes....she is doing very
well....she was diagnosed with both Ovarian and Uterian cancer
in December....which was abit heartbreaking for me since
I had watched my father-in-law died 6 months before from Bladder cancer....
and I could not bear the thought of my mom going through
that pain....

The first thoughts in my mind is my mom is going to die....

But because of people like Deanna....it was caught early
enough and my mom is still with us....I just wish my
father-in-law was also....

Aslan

PS...back to the topic at hand....
