Hello,

I'm new here. I've been a fan of the Scorpions since about 1983, the year I started playing guitar. I hope that this helps. I got this tab out of a magazine years ago. It's a lot of hammering, not picking. I'm pretty sure Matthias uses a little delay on this too. I don't have the tab in front of me but I think the intro is something like this.

--12-11-10-9----5-6-7-8-7-6-5---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------8-7-6-5------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------4-5-7-5-4-------------------------------------0------0------0------0-------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------7-5-4-----------------------2------0------2------0---------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------0-5-7-5-0-----3------2------3------2------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------0--

Good luck! It's a great guitar intro that I've always thought was cool.

scorp_fan15,

Glad you found it helpful. I was excited to get the tab as well, as I had been looking for it for a while. It's a hard lick to decipher just by listening to it.

lance, you seem an experienced guitar player and i have a question for you. on blackout at the begining of the solo, does matthias tap the notes? or he does really quick hammers? thanx

scorp_fan15,

Matthias doesn't seem to do a lot of tapping. I don't think he does any tapping in the Blackout solo. I think it's just fast hammering. As far as my playing goes, I can keep up with Matthias until Crazy World and beyond. He's a little too fast for me! But, I still really enjoy his style. I sing and write my own songs now, so I haven't practiced lead guitar as much as I used to.

Very BIG thanks!! I've always had to improvise that intro and I can see that I've been very close, but now I know how it really goes! And about the blackout solo: Matthias doesn't do tapping in the solo, but he does tap in the fills of the verses. He does it with pick slide instead of tapping with pick hands finger. I hope you understood!

Hey,

Do any of you have the relatively new Hal Leonard Scorpions "Best Of" Tablature book? It's got a pretty good mix of songs (from Lovedrive to Crazy World). It's pretty easy to find on Ebay. It seems to be very accurate as well. Just thought I'd let people know if they hadn't seen it.
