Man that was a bit harsh...As for me, I love The Lord of the Rings! I became a fan immediately after I saw the first film. Peter Jackson did a really good job. I read the books over though because they sure can get a little confusing, but it's a great story.

Tolkien! Tolkien is more then usual author. Tolkien is a religion.
When my history teacher read "Lord of the rings" she sayed me:
"I close the book, and looked around me. In this moment i didnt know where i was? In to the Middle earth, or in to home.. I just didnt know who world is the real world? Our, or Tolkien`s world"
And she even is not read "The Silmarilion" and "Unfinished tales" and the other Tolkien`s books...
And what is your favourite person? What do you thing about the Beleriand`s wars and First age?

same for me exciting books... they take all of your mind, feelings... all those legend tales... they seem so real... they COULD be the real history of our planet! this thought is quite fascinating, don't you think
