Obama has just won the Presidential Election!

Obama 338 electoral votes

We now have a Democratic President plus he's the first African American President!

Only 5 states left to go.
Obama is leading in Montana and Indiana.
McCain is leading in Missouri.

It's a tie in North Carolina, so far.

Poor, poor Alaska's returns haven't come in, yet.

We probably won't know about the outcome of these states until in the morning.
It'll be interesting to see who will get these states electoral votes.

Congratulations to President Elect Obama. He certainly has his work cut out for him. I wish him much luck, and may he be successful in bringing forth the positive changes our country so desperately needs. :D

Barack Obama was born at the Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children in Honolulu, Hawaii,[6] to Barack Hussein Obama, Sr., a Luo from Nyang’oma Kogelo, Nyanza Province, Kenya, and Ann Dunham, a white American from Wichita, Kansas.[7] His parents met in 1960 while attending the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where his father was a foreign student.[8][9] The couple married February 2, 1961;[10] they separated when Obama was two years old and subsequently divorced in 1964.[11] Obama's father returned to Kenya and saw his son only once more before dying in an automobile accident in 1982.[12]

I agree with you. That's all the news is about this morning. You wouldn't think that his mother was white at all. All I have to say is hold onto your wallets - Obama, Reid and Pelosi will be coming for what's in them!

WTG, to all the forum members that are making almost a 1/4 million dollars a year...sorry about the 4% tax increase you may suffer, though. I might be disappointed , too.

Since the race thing keeps being brought up for some reason, I would like to add my opinion if I may. I agree, for some voters race was definately an issue this election, but ANY voter who based their decision on the race of the candidates, did so with depthlessness and ignorance. I'm sure that both candidates lost and gained votes because of the race issue, but thankfully it was the overwhelming number of Americans(all demographics) who had faith in Obama's ability and confidence in his proposals and ideas that ultimately won him the election. It certainly didn't hurt that the Republican administration of the last 8 years practically ruined John McCain's chances, either. McCain may be a decent man, but he was doomed by his own party.

4% If it was 4% that would not be a problem. Last time we had capital gains taxes which is what the Democrats want to reinstate it was 21% on top of regular income tax. I've worked in Financial Services over 20 years and can't wait for them to hit everyone with their taxes and empty promises. Cant wait to see the price of gas and heating and cooling for those of us in the sunbelt next year. Then maybe people will wake up.
