i believe a few or couple of years ago him and his wife were hit by a drunk driver and he died. I have "In the hall of the mountain king" and "Gutter Ballet", I've yet to hear some of the new stuff, but hear from others I should go get it soon. Once again tragedy strikes the young and talented.

As most every Savatage fan knows, in the early morning hours of October 17, 1993 Criss Oliva and his wife Dawn were enroute to the Livestock Festival in Zephyrhills, Florida when tragedy struck. They were hit head on by a drunk driver. Criss was killed and his wife Dawn suffered severe injuries. Fans mourned the loss of one of music’s most gifted guitar players.

Fans are cordially invited to join Jon Oliva, along with some very special guests (TBA), on Friday, October 17, 2003 at the Green Parrot Pub in Largo, Florida to remember and celebrate the life and contributions of his brother, Christopher Michael Oliva, at a 10th Anniversary Memorial concert.

Pre-show tickets for the event will go on sale Friday, August 1, 2003 through the official Criss Oliva Memorial site (http://www.crissoliva.com). The cost for tickets will be $15 each and proceeds will be donated in Criss' memory to the CADD/Alcohol Free Kids Organization.

Alright here's the deaql on savatage
They re a florida based band that started bout 20 years ago. Criss and Jon Oliva were in charge they were brothers Criss played guitar, and Jon playd keyboards and vocals. when Criss died Jon stopped singing for the band and they hired someone else. Savatage now goes by The Trans Siberian Orchestra and remain absolute musical beasts so there it is in a nutshell.
