Hi, I am South African and was lucky to grow up in the beautiful city of Cape Town. During my early teenage years (13) we moved out to a wine growing area called Paarl. Here, in this little town I made many friends who were into the same music I was, Deep Purple, Floyd, Sabbath and so on. One of these guys was a German who started playing Scorpions music - all of us could not get enough of this amazing rock music and we had Scorpions parties, spreading the word! Fly to the Rainbow is certainly our all time classic album. Anyway, the years past, I movedto Australia and found a whole new bunch of people who loved the Scorps as much as I did. I have ended up in a small island called Jersey (in the Channel Islands) and have been here for 18 years, to this day. Last year I flew to London, EuroStar to Brussels and finally saw 'my band' live at Vorst National in Brussels. A little kid form a little town in South Africa, finally; out of all my friends, was the first to see Scorpions live. I have 3 kids who have grown up with the Scorpions music as I am always playing the various albums. Our youngest daughter is 16 and is at school in South Africa, out oldest daughter is 20 and lives on her own here in Jersey. I suggested to them that I would like to take them to a Scorpions concert, they were so excited and I was thrilled that they even wanted to come. As it turns out we have good friends who live in Lille, France - part of their European tour was to play Lille. We got very good tickets and took the ferry with our car to France, drove up to Lille and were so excited the following day, as this was concert day. During the afternoon we had a few drinks, the girls were all dressed up to tock and roll when the dreeaded call came

Klaus Meine was taken ill and the show was cancelled. We were so upset, we flew my daughter all the way from South Africa, made all the arrangements, our French friends were excited about the show and it was not to be. The next morning we prepared for the long drive home to find our car's window had been smashed, our stuff was stolen and it was puring with rain. What a disastrous week-end; I don't think my wife and daughters will ever see the Scorpions now!
