Well, sometimes one needs to read the very beginning of a topic to understand what's it about. That was my initial point.
Speaking about why I said that you're getting Americanized - I've noticed recently that your posts tend to be full of this special over-friendliness. It feels like being a sort of pushy... However, I'm, on the other side, too sarcastic and really became a smart-a$$ even without quotation marks. Probably I should eat some chocolate. I've tried to give it up lately or reduce the amount of sweets I eat, but seems like this didn't bring me any better than just being moody.

When we talk , we don`t have a mirror to see our expressions, and we are not always aware of how might we have said things ....

but here it all depends on the use of the lenguage and ...smilies.
But ,... you can get over what you have written , and may be able to check the way , .. (the tone of your voice ...so to speak) , later if you want to.
and , I find rather useful too, having got to know you , because it helps you to get the right interpretation and meaning of what you read, and avoid leading you to misunderstandings.

I hope I'm one of the sensible ones! But I actually know what you mean about some of the American posts sounding over-friendly. Either that or it sounds like they are complaining all of the time (which drives me crazy). But I digress.....

- making a sarcastic joke/ "what a cool joke I've said"
- teasing or showing off or sometimes instead of mr. green
- gotcha, support, cheer up

So should we take the problem of emoticons to the higher level? Creating separate topic to take into account other people's opinions? Asking Wolfgang to include a point about the meanings of emoticons in the forum rules? And so on? Or maybe keep it all a secret?.. Bury this topic deep in the pages so that nobody would ever dig it out?... Make up a legend "The Meaning of emoticons"?... Establish a close brotherhood or sisterhood, whatever you like better, and only its members will share the knowledge?...
