What if ?

What if ?

What if the Scorps scratched the current US tour, refunded tickets, and re- booked shows in smaller venues ?

Lets face it- there are a host of reasons that the shows are not selling well . One reason that hardly gets mentioned is the fact that some casual fans just dont get it.

We all know the reaction we get when one of us hardcores mentions the band to a casual fan ..." oh yeah , are they still around ? Wow ! Yeah , i saw them back in 1980 something and they rock. Best live band yada yada " Yet that same fan never sticks with them.

Most casual fans are more sold on bands with a gimmick , a schtick , or some kind of lame drama or a 'reunion' . I think the Scorps appeal to a more discriminating taste. That makes it hard for them to ' sell' themselves.

Why dont they just say f*#k it and do shows for US HARDCORE FANS ? Smaller 2-4,000 seaters. And do them all over the US. Hell , extend it into 2013 if they have to. They can give preference to people that have been on the forum and active for more than a year.

And when all is said and done - the reviews of how good the shows were start coming in , then the Johny come lately's can cry all they want. Too bad jr. You snooze you lose.

Yes , im appealing to the bands ego a bit -but it is true - its not how big a show you do its if you BLOW PEOPLES MINDS !

I think they should this. I have said this for months. They did use my Final Sting idea - i hope it wasnt a bad Omen lol

So, before you respond - put the word 'Smaller Shows' or 'Bigger shows' at the top of your post so we can see what people would prefer.

What a nightmare, I say no.

They can't change things now, imagine the scheduling nightmares for the group as well as the fans?

And after the whole ticketnetwork disaster where people bought tickets from a ticket broker?

It isn't about the bigger or smaller shows anymore, the dates have been announced, the venues have been booked, people from around the world have their travel plans.

However if they wanted to add a couple of "intimate" shows in August that would work for me.

the rammstein msg show was a one off, at that time it was the only show in north america so things are different with the scorps.

to me I think it is a bit sad that a band that was that succesfull in the sates is now playing in so tiny venues and to be honest, why should they return to the staates for even smaler shows if they could play bigger in other parts of the world?

they promissed to play on every part of the world when they announced the tour, so far I would say we are miles arway from shows in down under or even UK/Ireland etc. what about japan where they had soooo many fans in the 80's? sad sad ... on the other hand hey as long as we in germany got more shows - that's fine with me ;o)))))

Good question about Japan or UK.

They have never play in OZ and never will to bad.

Just so you know Rammstein did not only do one show in North America for that tour there were a total of 12 shows.

I dont think it makes the band look bad at all. The only reason other bands are doing big tours ( and i bet other than Van Halen those bands are having trouble as well ) is because they have a gimick draw. Kiss Motley Crue - the makeup/glam thing , Def Leppord Lita ford etc - 80's bands , Aerosmith and Cheap Trick - Classic light rock , Iron Maiden always draws young headbanging kids.

The Scorpions are in a league of their own and it makes it tough.

Maybe i should just hold out. I was at work and i just started getting good vibes about it...like its going to all work out. But if not. It will be sad. They cant go out on a note like this.

Apparently that's what everyone has been saying. As one of the US/Canada people - I disagree. I don't think we need a "special attraction" but because we have so many concerts in the summer months (and this summer seems busier than usual with all the mega tours) people are going to need to pick and choose what they attend.

I also think that here in US/Canada we are very spoiled - the continent is large and you have probably read all the people begging the Scorpions to go to their town/city/state/province. Driving a couple of hours for a concert seems to be too much effort (and expense is a consideration too) for a lot of people and if the band doesn't play down the road, they don't go).

I think once people get their plans settled around holidays and so forth and money saved up, we'll see more seats filling up. For example, the Scorpions are playing on July 2nd in Toronto, July 1st is a national holiday in Canada, so people are probably still planning things, either hangover recovery or another evening of fun!

I have to say that the band played 4 so far in my area of germany and will be playing a fifth time in december now. these venues have all a capacity between 10.000 - 20.000 people in only one area. ticket prices between 68$ and 110$. what would you now do if you were the band play months and month is parts of the world in front of 2-3.000 people or play in areas where you will have 10.000 people each night - easy one or?

I hade once the upportunity to talk to vivian campel of def leppard about touring in europe and his answer was: why should we tour here in europe and play every evening in small clubs when we will sell out arenas in the us beased on our name. don't get me wrong, I like playing in small clubs but what should I tell my wife and kids afterwards? dady just had a few month a lot of fun but did not bring home any money for our living?

On the contrary, I have talked to many past hard core fans and musicians who have said "are they still around?" to me, but life simply took them away to other obligations and responsiblities and in the meantime, due to lack of tourdates here, they faded out of the minds of those who had other things in life, that nobody can certainly know of, having not lived their life, demand their time and so therefore, since there has been next to nil promo in the last several years, have taken it for granted that they were gone!

More or less I'm agree with you,but I think they don't care about fans anymore  the USA tour will be an epic fail, why Iron Maiden sold out everywhere? Then I think they did "bring" home a lot of money during all these years thanks to the fans....we can call this tour: "Earn much money as possible"....Judas Priest played for their final tour a lot of songs from all their albums, why Scorpions not?

And with all due respect, having Tesla open for them isn't exactly going to excite the majority of the fans out here! ONE SHOW AND ONE SHOW ONLY AND IT'S IN UTAH FOR CRYING OUT LOUD IS QUEENSRYCHE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If they had just had them for the entire tour, THEN the ticket sales would be far more successful!! just sayin....
