Dear fans,
after hundreds of concerts, with each and every show performed just like a well oiled machine, we gave it all every nite...we came to Nancy in France...and boom, out goes the lights! Who's to blame? As you all know, we always like to share the stage with some of our dear friends when it is agreed upon in advance. The show in Nancy went downhill because the promoter of that show wanted to milk 'The Nite To Remember' concept one last time without any approval from band and management!! We understand the way you feel about that show and feel very sorry for our die hard fans who came from all over Europe to Nancy expecting something we were not aware of?!?! Thank-you for all the love and support...we hope we can make up for it one way or another! Regarding James' performance in Nancy...please see his personal statement... We are looking very much forward to seeing all of our family, friends, & fans when we are back in Europe in the fall! keep on rocking, The Scorpions!

James Kottak... I would like to send an apology out to all The Scorpions friends, family, & fans who travelled from near and far to see us at the Nancy France show last Saturday June 3rd. My performance sucked and was below average to say the least. With a combination of too much alcohol & my prescription medication, I was in no shape to play. I think that James did the right thing to apology and that honours him!A bad night can happen to anybody for any reason,the biggest thing is to admit the mistake and try not to repeat it...
...on the other side i think that the band's manager should apology to the fans(if he cares) and not the band,it was his job to protect the band and of course to build bridges and try to make the fans happy and not let anybody feel betrayed!
The announcement of the concert had been done a lot of months ago...
....anyway it's everybody's right to see thinks as he want,the glass of water half empty or half foul..but i think that .this statetment should have be done at the concert...

Fans, Fans, Fans. Can't anyone see and understand that the others that were not scheduled to perform with The Scorps were just used to make more money for the promotors of this event. It is apparent that not even The Scorps themselves were aware of it and as much as we all like Uli it seems he himself was aware of the fact that he would be performing after Our Scorps left the stage. Do you not smell the stinch of something very rotten here? Ok so The Scorpions are retiring after this Final Sting Tour? Not with musicians from their past wanting to take their fame in this untasty manner, please put yourselves in their shoes to arrive in Nancy and suddenly find out that you are not in the closing line up and get up on that stage and perform your best knowing that a past member will take the stage, I mean c'mon after all this was suppose to be The Scorps final tour and not Uli's or any other groups grand entry! Give Scorpions the credit they deserve after all they have been on tour since 2010 and have given the fans a show of their lifetime considering their age they still rock compared to all the others from the 70's & 80's that have either retired or just broken up because of issues that business or relationships cannot resolve. To those who attended the concert in Nancy be patient The Scorpions will find a way to make up for it they are true to their fans remember that they are human and emotions at times get in the way they are not a wind up toy that performs on stage, with every concert there are issues that need to be confronted and this was just one of those that had some snags which were not very nice and even The Scorps themselves were surprised and performing under pressure, they still remain The Greatest Rock Band in all history, keep supporting them![url][url][/url][/url]

BUT...
Do you really believe what is written here is true, that Scorpions' words must be considered as holy words ? Come on, can you believe the band was not aware of this planned family reunion ? The band was aware of that of course, as they had agreed with the promoter to do this special show since last December !!!!
Moreover, it's the band who sent the promoter an e-mail just a few days before the show, telling him they didn't want guests on stage ANYMORE !!!

So, it's great the band communicates, it's sad it's not telling us the truth...

I DO BELIVE THEIR WORDS, SINCE IN 2006 I REMEMBER (SURE THE SPANISH FANS AND ALSO ADRIAN REMEMBER) THERE WAS A GHOST SHOW SCHEDULED IN MADRID.

IT WAS SELLING TOO WELL, BUT SCORPIONS NEVER SIGNED IT.

WE KNEW IT ´COS ABOUT 2 WEEKS BEFORE WE MET THE GUYS (ROXANNE, ANDREA AND ME) AND THEY SAID THE WOULDN´T PLAY THERE AT ALL.

THOUGH WE TALKED WITH THE PROMOTERS OF THAT GHOSTO SHOW, ´COS THEY WERE STILL SELLING TICKETS, THE ANSWER WAS SCORPIONS WOULD LAY FOR SURE

WHAT WORD DID WE HAVE TO BELIEVE?

NO DOUBT FOR ME: SCORPIONS´ WORD

BUT SO MANY PEPLE BELIEVED THE PROMOTERS´ AND THE RESULT WAS THAT THE SAME DAY OF THE SUPPOSED SHOW THERE WAS A NOTE AT THE DOORS SAYING "SCORPIONS HAVE SUDDENLY DECIDED TO GO TO USA TO RECORD THE NEW ALBUM. ROLLING STONES FEVER HAS REACHED THEM TOO"

I MEAN, POMOTERS, AMONG WHICH WAS ALSO THE COUNCIL TOWN, ANNOUNCED A SHOW THAT WAS NEVER SIGNED AND ONLY SAID IT WON´T TAKE LACE WHEN ALL THE CREW WERE THERE.

THIS WAY, THE VILLAGE GOT A LOT OF TOURISM; PEOPLE THAT WENT THERE AND HAD TO SLEEP AND EAT THERE..

Good for you, the Scorpions must be happy that most of us fans drink their words as unquestionable truth, so they don't have to justify themselves and go into details, which in this case are not in their favor.

Contrary to your story Marina, here the facts speak for themselves, and unfortunately they are not on the Scorpions' side. But anyway, we had an official note, looks like the case is closed now, even if it leaves a bitter taste in the fans' mouth. "Won't get fooled again", as another band once said...

I think it`s time to close this topic ... Put the end of it and let everybody think what he/she would like. I mean, there will always be people who will trust their words, there will always be people who will think that these words are nothing but a good mangament trick, and some - who will always be sure they`re not telling us the whole truth.

Whatever.. It`s in the past, and I just hope the huge gesture, that they`ve read and answered all the comments here, is enough to erase the bitter feeling, left in fans, who were there. At least, I am happy that we got an answer. It is a shown respecft.

I do believe too, whatever really happened - this or something else in Nancy, everybody will take a note and will never ever let this happen again ('cause it remains a little bit, but still, a managment fault (too) not to follow how the promotion of the show is going...).

Scorpions really are some childish immature guys...my god does the Francis bashing ever end ! Michael, Uli and Herman have had no problems playing with him..yet the " trio" (Rudolf,Klaus,Matthias) want to make a stink. I blame Rudolf for this crap-he is and always has been the "leader" of the Scorpions..though they all have their say no doubt I believe HE is the major influence and persuades the tone in decision making, he founded the band and he is the one who moved the band's sound away from the harder 70's stuff to the more pop rock junk of the mid 80's forward.. And as for Kottak--I know a lot of you adore the guy but I can't stand him and he never really has been a Scorpion (same goes w/the bass player-if anyone even remembers his name.) And it's well know Kottak likes the bottle....too much. I so much more enjoyed seeing Michael with his MSG tour recently w/Robin McAuley, They put on a fabulous positive show and their playing was heartfelt and passionate-not just going through the motions as someone previously noted that the Scorps are doing. They are going through the motions, my god Klaus used to sing We'll Burn the Sky with such emotion and passion, for the past many years he sings it (and other songs) like he's singing a cereal commercial. The feeling of " let's just get through the song and get it over with" is exuded. This why I didn't bother spending my time nor money and I skipped the Reno and Mountain View shows this time around. I saw them in '10 and it would have been more of the same going through he motions with Klaus' soulless singing and Rudolf swinging his arm and striking the rock star pose. Maybe they don't want Francis around because it reminds the fans just good they USED to be back in the day..and how those ' good' days are long gone.

Hello to all Scorpions fans My name is Val and I am from California in the U.S.A. I have been following the Scorps since January of this year 2012. I actually heard about the Scorpions back in 1973 while living in the village of Butzbach,Hessen while my husband was on military duty stationed there. I returned to the U.S. in 1974. I can recall their fame here in Southern California in 1983 while they performed in The U.S. Festival in nearby San Bernardino. I recently met a man who reintroduced me to the Scorps and I am totally a fanatic of this wonderful group and not a day goes by without me listening to their incredible music and checking their website to see what is new. Although I am not considered a "hard core" fan my love for them and their music is as strong as any fan or "groupie" as they titled us in my era 70's would have for their music that touches the heart and soul and only Scorpions can do that because their lyrics truly do come from their hearts for all us fans, Truly when they write their music who are they sending their message to? Of course their fans so they do really care. Yes I gave my opinion on what I think happened in Nancy and I still believe that the whole group was disappointed in what really happened and they were unaware of those that were scheduled to perform and it caused the Scorps some humiliation and it affected their performance. As for Kottak he was just being an American and probably the upset of the whole thing angered him and caused him to drink a little too much, thats the way we Americans react to upsets at times and by our standards it is excusable we are only human. The Scorps performed in Reno Nevada and by all the raves I have read they had an excellent show and the fans just loved it! I will continue to follow them and listen out for all the comments about them and their tour here in the U.S.A. I was hoping to attend their "Final Sting" Concert in Los Angeles, California which is 60 miles West about 1 hours drive but I have no funding and my vehicle is kaputs. I have never been to one of their shows and hoped this would be my first and my last chance to see them, I have fallen in Love with this group and now that they are retiring I will always have them near to my heart and will always consider myself a fan..God Bless you to all you fans of "The Scorpions"..The Greatest Rock Band in all of American History and Germany!!

On-topic: SchenkerGirl, how come that you are so into who`s the decision maker in the band? I really can`t understand something. Fans, who are here non-stop, who don`t miss shows, who are devoted and loyal, who are with the band for many many years.. they do not share expert opinions as... who is the leader or not, or whatever info, nobody knows from first hand.. but you.. some people who are nothing more than haters.. How come that you know sooo much? How can you say who`s real Scorpion or now... It`s really strange for me..

If you just don`t enjoy their music, if you think that the band fools you or is (as somebody said pages ago)... too old to play .. why do you keep writing in this forum.. If you enjoy more MSG, TOR or whatever now Michael band is called.. just follow them, rock on their music and do not give no needed "expret" opinions of who`s who in the band I`m sorry if I sound too rude, but.. hello.. it`s the very last year..
