A note aside about the headbanging : have you tried it lately ? ... wow , my cervicals seems to be so fixed and my brain so dazed

Can`t wait for part 2 !!

I think you mean the Epica singer. I don't see any cute in the Volbeat one. And he looks like a he. But you never know nowadays of course.. I normally also don't like that way of singing, except in cases like this, when it's used with moderation, and in combination with an angelic female voice, to compensate for those sounds of the devil.

I suppose headbanging requires long hair, so I cannot say I ever tried that. I have been known to make spastic movements with the head though.

I just got back inside and still have to start with part 2. But first I have to eat something. 8)

Funny you should mention that.... I usually look motionless and cool from the neck and up, but giving the most massive drum solos with my feet and hands.... Guess I don´t want to lose my face 8)

thanks Hans for your revieuw , I was just on time for Foreigner , they were very good ,it rains at that moment , but with a song like dirty white boy , you dont care , later the son came out and the day was wunderfull.
I enyoi Journey (I like them alot ) Volbeat was pretty wild , me and Hans we stand close to the danger zone , but thats the metal festival .
I leave it to Hans for the revieuw of Scorps , he do a better job than me , just say it was again good , but they can do more with it , must say Rudy was super , he had fun and gave his best schot , Mathias was great he stop a moment to play and give a sign to Kristof(great).

:) Yeah Hans, I totally agree with the posts previously:
You are a funny entertainer by your reviews, I also enjoyed Part1, too.
I am so very sorry for you to miss Foreigner.
I like them alot, great band.
I also would have been delighted of hearing them live.

Ok, thus, I am joining to the "impatiently waiters" for your Part2.

Hans, thanks a lot for such an interesting and detailed review! I agree with others - you're indeed know how to write an interesting report :) . Sooo... I'm another one who's impatiently waiting for the culminating part of it :)
Best wishes, Nadya

It's great to be here, to see you all!

Thanks everybody for your nice words. When writing a review the pleasure is all mine, really. And it's very nice to see that some people like to read it. :D
I still haven't started with part 2...

Now really. Don't you think you can get away with it that easy. We need everybodies perspective on the events. Not only my subjective single-sided bandwagon-type-of-fan kind-of-view...
So I really am expecting some more words from you as well, it's always nice to read your impressions after a concert, and I think other people will agree. 8)

Here is the setlist

http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/scorpions ... 30044.html

they are still my favorite band , the concert was good
the show was to short for a headliner , now you see they can do more with it , just for that I am dissapoint it . :(
the day after Judas Priest played 130 min. thats the difrents
sorry to say that was not a headlining act
I am gone to see them in Brussels , hope they do alot better , if not in Brussels I am gonna see them for the last time and remember the good times between 1977 and 1993.

sorry , but I still love there music

Graspop - Friday 24/06 - Part 2: Scorpions

Disclaimer: some of the footage I linked is from other concerts, I might replace some links if the ones from Graspop are appearing on utube.

After Volbeat had finished, many people left the front and I managed to get in the 3rd row, just behind Jess and Ron. Jantje was there as well and he had brought a lot of friends. So, western-flemish was the language behind the barriers. Suddenly Kristof and Joanne were there as well, no idea how they had managed to fight themselves a way so much to the front, since they had only arrived very late. Philip came to the front a little bit later, because he first wanted to make sure not to become thirsty and he managed only to get in the 5th or 6th row.

While waiting we could hear and see the soundcheck. I don't know all the names of all the people surrounding the band by heart but I did recognise Ingo. I find that quite an achievement of myself, that now not only I can keep the band members out of each other but even recognise other people as well. 8)
But there were other more professional fans there that can add such valuable missing information about who was to be seen during the soundcheck etc.

As always during concerts I got ready to do some broadcasting to the usual and less usual backoffices. I wanted to send the opening to my manager but I'm not sure she received it properly. Because my radio station was running low on batteries, I had to be very selective with the choice of the songs and the duration of the different broadcasts. So it wasn't really a world wide live broadcast this time. The second song with a positive message was transmitted to a country in the south of Europe.
I think they are live at their best nowadays in the somewhat slower heavy songs like The Zoo. So that one was broadcasted as well. I had to stop broadcasting shortly after that because of dead battery.

Of course the more rock & roll ones are still very enjoyable but I think the slower ones fit them better. It's easy to be a bandwagon type kind of fan like me. You can have all kinds of totally unprofessional opinions like this. The "rockers" on SITT have also something a bit slower in them. A pity they don't play some more of those. And some more rarely played stuff. I did see Priest the next day in a not-original-at-all-anymore-line-up. And they played some very old and rare songs, combined with the ones everybody wants to hear and where they are really good at. And it was a helluvashow. 8)

Of course Scorps always have been, and still are, very good in the ballads, but it was a good decision to adapt the setlist and play only 2 ballads on this metal festival.
I personally found Klaus voice not so good as in other concerts I have been to, especially in the more rocker songs (so in most songs actually). About the level-of-jumping-around on stage and how they looked I don't really have an opinion. I never really pay much attention to such things. That's more something for girls. Jess???
But I did like very much the version of Dynamite they did. It has a part in it after the solo, that I really like, and you could hear it much better than the other times I heard them play the song. I don't suppose it was a longer version then usually, I hope Kristof or Ron can comment on that but I really liked how they played it.

When the show was over, we wanted to hang out at the festival ground a bit, and help to increase the sales of the different beer and food stands, but they were closing most of the stands already. Strange that they were not staying open longer, to try to beat a bit of money out of us. Like Asterix would say "strange people, those Limburgers".
Unlike real professional festival visitors, I didn't stay there to overnight, but drove back home, and came back the day after. I have to say the Saturday I found by far the best of the 2 days I have been, even without Ozzy (who was sick with laryngitis). Whitesnake and Priest were both really good. But I don't want to get too far off-topic by writing too much about the Saturday.

Thank you very much for the photos, Kristof , and thank you Hans for the second part, well done :D

Also, I humbly thank you for the broadcast towards the southern Europe. Unfortunately I wasn´t there to pick up the phone (I felt bad when I saw how persistant you had been..) but I think my son couldn´t help his curiousity once, so you may think that it was me. Lucky Luke  Your pics are great on Facebook, too, they transfer us the muddy atmosphere pretty well :D
