WEBMASTER , about making Scorpions t-shirts

Unread postby Petra » June 14th, 2008, 11:53 am

Webmaster, you see more and more people on the site who start making their own Scorpions t-shirts. I wonder if this is legal ? I also wonder why fans don't get a reaction about the shop. It would be very nice to know what happened there... We all rather buy authentic Scorps gear than making it ourselves... So please inform us about this topic.
Thanks a lot already and all the best for you.

Shoot nowadays, we can make any shirt we want. All we need is a photo or a logo or graphic, etc. It just wouldnt be authorized or official.

if it is an official graphic then it is not okay...it's called bootleg and technically illegal unless you have permission from a band. You cannot use their images from album artwork only pictures/photo's. The logo is copyrighted too so you shouldn't use that either unless you change it by altering it a bit.

Hi MizKitty,

Ready for C.M.? :P Remember, I will be interviewing you and Pabla, so get ur answers ready "What Do Scorpions Mean To You?".
In the meantime, I happened to have asked Desiree last year when scorpsnews was first brought on board about posters, bumper stickers, etc if we were to make them ourselves would that be bootleg or copyright infringement. She said no, not unless you try to sell it! Case in point: scorpsnews bumper stickers we have given away. She went on to say that if we were print up things that said Scorpions suck, THEN she would have a problem with it! Otherwise, it was fine. So...take it from there.

hmmm that's interesting....I've emailed Peter Amend before about the stuff I see on Ebay that is completely a bootleg, infringement ripoff, but I guess it's too hard to keep up with everyone trying to make money off of other peoples logo's etc.

Good to know that, thanks. And yes...soooooooo ready for Aug. 3rd!!
