Strasbourg show 25 oct 2008 REVIEW !

Unread postby Petra » November 16th, 2008, 6:54 pm

I finally can post my experiences at the STRASBOURG SHOW for all of the fans that could not be there :
On the 24th of October me and my boyfriend arrived in Strasbourg after a 5 hour drive, off course listening to Scorpions music. Time just flies then. Driving around the city we noticed Scorpions fans and had a chat about the upcoming concert. It's always great to meet other fans in other countries! They are like brothers you know... The day of the concert we had breakfast and lined up at the Zénith. We arrived at about noon, and ALREADY there were 30 people in every line!!! The sun was shining and more and more people lined up, smiling and singing. It surprised me to see so many TEENAGE FANS at this concert. Scorpions are also hot again for young people, that is just great to see! Then a camera crew arrived to take interviews from people wearing Scorpions T-shirts and there were many! With such a friendly atmosphere and with the sun in our faces the hours faded away and at 19h we could ENTER. They kept us standing in front of a closed door for another 40 minutes but that only made us more enthusiast. People started yelling, open the door, aperoooo !!! And finally we entered and lined up before the stage :D I was on the second row, as close as possible to the place where Klaus normally stands.
First we listened 45 minutes to a France rock band, I had seen before. I must say they were not as good as last time. Quite annoying when you know they can do so much better! And some young boys next to us started jumping and pulling people to the floor. Security acted very fast and professional to keep control about the situation.
Then the moment we had all been waiting for ... SCORPIONS appeared and ROCKED our souls !!! It was also Mattias his birthday and Klaus started to sing happy birthday. Mattias was a little shy, very sweet !
They sung some other songs as usual which was a great surprise. Uli was there so they performed some of their older songs, nice to hear them again!!! People had so much fun, and again Klaus threw so many drum sticks, that everybody went crazy! Luckily there were no fights, but at some moments it came very close. In front of me a girl started to faint, so security took her to the back room. A few moments later a young man got sick. Very unfortunate because they were at first row... (I hope you are feeling better now :) )
I was very happy to see that my boyfriend could catch a plectrum signed by Mattias!!! Now I am the proud owner of a drum stick signed by Klaus AND a plectrum... There is a God

A big surprise was the new Belgian drummer who played with them. They performed "les batteurs", all band members lined up and played the drums together, which made a nice sound (like the "mojito song") :D
The Belgian drummer lost his stick but Klaus just smiled, he was enjoying it I think :D

Then Klaus did something special, he came to the front of the stage and beated on his heart, while he was breathing loudly and moaning... To show us we were all in his heart. That was very touching and for the female fans it was quite irresistible

I am sorry I can not give the setlist here... I really don't remember all songs, but I do remember they did not perform "we'll burn the sky". But hey, no problem because I felt so blessed to be so close to the band. I must say that Klaus looked a bit tired. Much more tired then at other concerts last year. But who can blame him? It is normal, he is only human. (a super human) Klaus most of the time had his sunglasses on, which I think is a pitty. But so many people taking pictures can not be very good for the eyes... The concert hall was fully packed and everybody was singing and shouting compliments. After, I could not speak anymore,

The next day, as usual, I had the after-concert-blues, but my boyfriend dragged me into the City center. What I saw there really blew my mind away... A group of 15 Scorpions fans.... some very expensive Mercedes cars with german plates... O MAN, WE WERE IN FRONT OF THE HOTEL WHERE SCORPIONS HAD SPENT THE NIGHT !!! Powel just walked in and we kept waiting to see others. After Rudolf left and gave us his signature, hotel staff said they had all left. ONLY me and my boyfriend kept waiting, hoping... and 30 minutes later YES, there was Powel. We were a little bit shy, but his manager pointed at us and he came to us to shake hands!!! He gave us a photo and signed it, and we had a chat about the good concert. He was very friendly!
I was off course sad that Mattias and especially Klaus had already left the hotel, but yet it was a great experience we had there !!! A German fan spoke with us and told us he was staying in that hotel and he was at their after party until 05h in the morning !!! O my God, the lucky b...!

It is obvious that this way of life, is Scorpions... They breath music. It was their first love and their last. I love to see so much passion and team spirit as they show out there. Standing on my legs for 10 hours straight was nothing. I felt like I could do anything and for that feeling, I really THANK SCORPIONS from the bottom of my heart !!!!!!!!!!
I wish you guys great holidays and I think I can speak for all the fans when I say : JUST REST guys and SPENT precious time with your FAMILIES now !!!

And when the time comes again that you feel the itch... you know what to do. We'll be waiting! :)

A merry Christmas and a happy New Year to all of you and to all Scorpions fans !!! I hope you like my review

And a great video from Klaus, where he really enjoys himself, smiling all the time : ("when the smoke is going down, Korea 1996) Damn, he's hot :D

Hey, it is a great review Petra, thanks for sharing.
It was an amazing and unforgettable show and meeting other fans was more than happyness for me too.
I am sorry about not to meet you and Kristof, but next time.
To be honest, I didn't feel Klaus tired at all, also, he was in a great shape and his mood was great after soundcheck too when we were lucky enough to meet him, but ok, views are differ from each other.
All in all, it was another unforgettable experience of my life and a huge gift of God for me.
Klaus-THE SPECIAL ONE,
Rudolf-THE WISE ONE,
Matthias-THE COOL ONE,
Pawe-THE SIMPLE ONE,
James-THE CRAZY ONE,
The Scorpions are THE NICEST GUYS.

Hi Ruti,

Powel was very sweet indeed. I think this man looks tough on the outside, but is soft (nice) on the inside. I never experienced it that a band member spontaneously walks over to his fans to shake their hands. I stood perplex to see such modesty. I now see I spelled his name wrong, stupid me (SORRY PAWEL) :-)

The picture of you and Klaus is very beautiful, a great memory of a nice day I suppose? Where was it taken? You made me curious now

Talk to you soon,
Petra

Hi Petra

2008 had been a crazy year in my corner of the world due to the tornado we had in May so I was only able to see the Chicago show this year but it was fantasic. :D If you go back a few pages in the tour dates section you will find my Chicago review. I think the UK fans had the most amazing reviews this year. I love reading ALL the reviews but the UK fans really climbed to the top with their reviews. :D If you have some spare internet time be sure to read them, they are so detailed. Thank you UK fans! :D I hope you will be able to see another show next year Petra and who knows someday maybe we will finally have the chance to meet at a show. That would be wonderful! Keep rockin girl!
