I was thinking that too this days... is strange.. when the final tour/album was announced it was supposed this whole thing was the ending because they didn't want to slow down in front of their fans and there was going to be an espectacular amazing final show probably in europe, probably in the square garden etc etc
That's finishing something with class and style before you indeed slow down, and most important being honest to your words

If they continue for years and years even if it is in a more "relaxed" way they'll sadly burn themselves gradually... and also they´ll be dishonest to the words they said more than 2 years ago

I remember Rudolf saying in an interview a couple of months ago that they would have news for us soon about the final dates. I figure either their plans of changed or they haven't settled anything yet.

Or they want to finish this tour first before deciding. Dunno. I would love to know though!

Does anyone know the old saying MONEY TALKS, BULL *** WALKS? Well, they weren't lying or being deceitful, they just saw where money started pouring in to STOP their retirement and who in their right mind is going to reclaim their fame they were so sadly missing for years AND make huge bucks and just stop that whole process? If Russia was handing you tons of money to come back, wouldn't you? BUT I am hoping they stand by their word about hitting places they haven't been to before OR for quite some time and not just Russia and France. That's just crap, even if they are offering them huge sums of money! They need to be the Scorps we know and love and need to see the respect for us that we give them by spending money we don't really have, traveling hundreds if not thousands of miles to see them and give them gifts and and and......sigh.
Sooooo boys, let's see what ya got now? kay? We are trusting you...;.. :music-headbanger: :romance-kisscheek:

The retirement statement came from PETER AMEND (band manager) he knew that making that statement would put some money in his pocket..The band should of said what Judas Priest said last year. That they were done doing full blown WORLD TOURS...Now you can put the band in the category of all the other bands who have lied to their fans throughout the years about retiring..

I'm going July 12 with some friends and family and will enjoy my last show with the Scorps..because at the end of this year i'm retiring from being a SCORPIONS FAN!!!

I'm not sure how you can retire from being a Scorpions fan. Surely you can be a bit miffed at them for one thing or the other...but I'm not sure how you can become an "unfan" even if their public relations needs work, the music is still the Scorpions.

It's not an on/off switch! :)

I quite agree with what Cristy and Scott said.

Once they make the decision, they are bound to keep their words, no matter how sad it is, because being decisive and sticking to their "moral code" are important as being normal people. And it does seem that the "retirement" is a shield for their stashes of new releases.

Either they keep their words about the destined retirement, or they should've made an announcement about changing their mind, instead of talking about the final shows and having so many unfinished things in studio / continuing in a more relaxed way

You have to understand where i'm coming from in 2012:

The lying to the fans in the last 7 or 8 years has gotten out of control..They kept promising 60-70 date tours to their North american fans with no results. Then Sting in the Tail was going to be their last release of new material and now they will be releasing unheard songs from 1982-1991. This was suppose to be their farewell tour and now it might not be. The Nancy France incident was horrible. 30,000 people come to the show expecting to see "A night to remember" involving Uli,Michael and Herman and only Uli comes up for one song. And i received an email from Herman the other day telling me the reason that Michael and Herman were not allowed on stage with the Scorps on that show was because they had recently played some shows with Francis. What are we all in 3rd grade again. So now Rudy and Klaus manage Michael and Herman career are you kidding me. And then to top it all off James shows up drunk and on prescription drugs for the show. So 30,000 people paid alot of money to see the drummer trashed on stage .

So yes July 12th will be the farewell show for me. I will go crazy and enjoy the show. I will not stop listen to their music but i will no longer spend money on the band.

One thing could change my mind and that would be a statement from the band on their future plans and answer is this truly a farewell tour or have they changed their mind and will continue on??

I'll be a sucker, haha! I KNOW this, cuz if they put out new music they have from the golden days, I would be downright stupid NOT to buy that album. BUT!! IF they come back to the States, I doubt I will go see them. It costs too much and living on disability does NOT give me much to live on! Besides, I will be very surprised if Scorps come back here, it's too expensive and probably doesn't put much in Amend's pocket! Son of a ***!! :x
