Jefferson wrote:I agree. They need an act that has a similar history (started in the 70's) and has a large old school fan base like Deep Purple, Alice Cooper, Judas Priest, etc. It can be co-headline with each band switching off closing the show, etc. I know that is not possible at this point, but it would be nice!
Jefferson wrote:The 96 tour with Alice was great, as was the 02 and 03 tours with DP and Whitesnake. Oh well. I can't believe promoters agreed to use some of these venues. I'm curious to see the crowd shots in the youtube videos. I hope for the best and I'm sure the Chicago show will do well.

Raised On Rock wrote:Tesla? uhm... with all those great bands touring together this summer, I think they needed someone with a better history, quality and fanbase, I don't know if the "farewell story" could help to fill arenas in the USA, the band's management didn't a good job there in the last (20) years, plus I've seen the (very high) prices of the tickets... I hope the band will have packed arenas on this farewell tour, they deserve it.

Hopefully it's just on the west coast and we will get a good opening band for the rest of the country . If it's tesla then we don't have to rush to get to the show . Their painfully bad.
Stormchaser wrote:The 2004 tour didn’t do poorly because Tesla was the opener, it was largely a failure due to a decade having passed since their last real rock album and because promotion for both the album and tour sucked. Since then they’ve put out some decent albums but nothing that could even be considered close to a success in the USA so they’re in a very similar position as 2004 entering this tour; a band known mostly for their stuff from the 80’s that never really achieved superstar status and that hasn’t produced anything noteworthy in the 22 years since CW. That’s not a recipe for success and unless they’re paired with a real rock heavyweight as co-headliner the tour will not likely pack large arenas. I do see they have some larger venues planned (Staples, Thomas & Mack) so someone thinks they’ll have a strong draw there but then in Chicago where they’ve historically almost always drawn over 10,000 they’ll play at Northerly which I do like personally but has a capacity of only 7500 and was almost a third empty last time around in 2008. Anyone with high expectations the USA farewell tour will likely be disappointed, the fact that it’s the second “farewell tour” somewhat dilutes that element as a drawing point as well. Personally I’d love to see them go out playing to full houses but what really matters is that when the lights go down I’ll have one more chance to see the band that’s meant so much to me over the past 32 years and celebrate the music.

one of the bands that listens to fan request and will play deep cuts upon request .
as a matter of fact they added and dedicated a song for me once .
and anyone who bashes them on their musicianship doesn't know *** !
and another thing the SCORPIONS are not gonna get a opening act that will draw in the big crowd , ya gotta spend money too make money .
$500 for a photo op this time when it was $200 last time ???
glad i had my show in Nashville last time , as much as i would love to see them again a 6 hr car drive to Chicago isn't gonna happen .
hope everyone that can go has a KICK ASS time !
i'll be going to see TESLA play an hr away in a few months for $18 now that's doable !
