it's a german band I never heard of. This song is taken from a german album 'a tribute to the Scorpions'

I had no idea either, but I happened to listen to it with someone who simply picked the album up from his shelf ( ) and told me : in 2001, tribute album, band called Prolopower , the song : "Dampflockfuhrer" !! .
Thanks , Gegers

According to my last experience about HH1, evenif they said anything about stile of the album, it wouldn't change anything: I remember when the samples were posted on the site from HH1, worldwide fans were disappointed, not to say angry with the band that they hadn't keep their promise, it was not a heavy stuff as they had promised, etc.
The forum was full of these negative voices.
If I were the Scorps, (learning from the past) I wouldn't hint anything either.

So, now I got a little more time. Here the information about those things we do not know already. The interview was mainly about the history of the scorpions but I think it's nevertheless interesting, because he tells the things from his side. And he mentioned some things I already thought but never knew for sure - and now I heard it direct out of the mouth of Klaus Meine!

He was first asked about the concerts in germany. They didn't tour here for several years. Klaus mentioned first that a german tour is overdue and then refered to the show in Essen in october. Then he said he hopes this will be the beginning for more shows in germany. But they already said, that they won't play so many shows this year because they want to concentrate on the new CD. They have already been in the studio and made something - but he didn't say what they have done. And he mentioned the concerts in south america in 2007 and 2008. They recorded the shows in Recife and in Manaus and want to release the Amazonia DVD. They still work on it. Maybe the new CD and the Amazonia DVD will come as package.

o.k. that was the first step.

Hi Hans and Lenita,

Thank you for the information and translation.
ROCK CITY said this interview will be on air on August 15th again as I wrote earlire so if you missed it last night, you have one more chance.

DVD and the new CD... :D
It's so exciting to listen to the new songs.
I can feel the great anticipation!!!
But next year won't come so soon till next year.....
Sigh.........

the next thing they were talking about was their rise in the U.S.
Just a few years before the Scorps became popular in the U.S. a man with the name Conny Planck laughed at Rudold when he said the Scorpions want to play world wide.
Klaus said they have seen some german bands that wanted to be succesful in the U.S. and went there on their own and came back disappointed. The Scorps have already been succesful in japan and now they waited for the right moment to go to the USA. Management was the most important thing if you want to be succesful there. They played the U.S. festival - a show, where the who is who of rock played. In the first year Ted Nugent had been headliner, ACDC special guest and there had been Thin Lizzy. The Scorps opened the show, they got 30 minutes to play, but they played 45 min and all the people there thought these germans were absolutely crazy.
In the morning after the second concert Klaus went to a - he calls it - coffee shop in order to have breakfast. And there was Bon Scott. Bon Scott came to Klaus, introduced himself and since these days the Scorps and ACDC are friends.
The next year Scorpions already had the special guest status and with the blackout album headliner status. With the huge success in the U.S. even the germans noticed the band and they had the chance to play big concerts even in germany. Another reason for the success in germany was the album love at first sting and especially the single still loving you, which was very succesful here.
After this somewhen the song wind of change was released. That was in the beginning of the 90s. In the 90s came bands like Nirvana and grunge (he calls it alternative music) came up and it was a general hard time classical rock band. A lot of bands did not survive these times but the Scorpions had a world wide hit.
But the rock fans thought that the Scorps are sliding into mainstream - and they got the reputation of being a ballad band. Another reason for this might have been the album pure instinct with all the ballads on it
He says to that time the band had been in a kind of hole because their base was a bit broken away and they tried to get or searched for ways out of this hole. Then they made some projects, like the one with the Berliner Philharmoniker or Acoustica. Klaus said that it is no problem to fall down when you can manage to get on your feet again. And they were willing to fight for their fans - especially when you got the reputation of being a ballad bunch.
In 2006 he had to read in Hamburg in a newspaper, the Scorpions will play tomorrow in Wacken, what are the Scorpions doing there? (in the meaning there they are absolutely at the wrong place)
And in Wacken they proofed that the Scorpions are everything but not just a ballad troop and they are able to make a good show even for 60.000 die hard metal fans.

Hi Hans,

Thank you for taking your time again to go through the interview and to give us a complete summary.

Cristina,

Thank you for uploading the interview.
I sill listen to it just because of Klaus' voice.
It is always a pleasure for me to listen to him evenif I won't understand an only word either. :D

Exactely the same for me... Listening to his voice makes me feel relax and I forget everything... And I don't speak when he speaks in German... It's so beautiful
