Hello !!!
Just wondering if some of you guys have floyd rose tremolos on your guitar. What do you think of them ... pros and cons
I have a floyd rose and i think it's one of the greatest things ever invented i mean, the floyd roses make guitar playing to go a level further and to be much fun. unlike strat's classic system the floyd rose can be used hours without stopping and the guitar will still be in tune. And when the strings break you can reuse them for months it's so great the only thing i don'T like about fr is that you cant tune your guitar very low, but since i don't tune it very low i don't care
Floyd Roses RULE !

[blue]I have three guitars with Floyd Rose, but one of them are a crap "under lisence by floyd rose patents". This is my Charvel's bridge, have bad stuff. In my guitars the best FR is in the Jackson, but in the Robin keeps the tuning ok too. My robin FR is equipped now with Tuna in 6ª string.
I uses also Tune-o-matic bridges for change easily for tune, in 2 Gibson Explorer.
Floyd Rose has a contra: change the tune. Isn't fast and easy for do it, like in a tune o matic bridge. In tune o matic, is: i want tune it in C#, and is tune in C# very fast. With FR is a bit more complicate. But you can do it in a longer time. Another contra is intonation adjust, isn't as easy like in regular bridges, where you can operate with a screwdriver, and bridge adjust, shall be paralell to the body top. In regular bridges (tune o matic not needs special works here, and strat bridges is very easy the correction) not need special cares. another contra is, u plays a E in 6ª string (for example) and u plays a D note in 22 fret at first string, and bend it
then, 6ª string lose down tune, cos with a bending, u moves all the bridge, in regular bridges (Specially type Gibson) you haven't this problem.
The pro is how keeps the tune, i does sometimes work hard to FR, and always ok.

Thanks for your reply, Rot !
i always thought it was cool. I often play an open string and then i bend another one for detuning the open string. i always found this cool. it makes an intresting effect
For changing the tune i agree. With FR it IS long and a bit more complicated, thats why now i am not intending to change the tunning. believe me or not, i spent 30 minutes just for tunning it from normal to eb and in the end i said : 'i hope i'll never have to retune again this motherfuker '

Another contra::if you broke a string,,FR ruines all the tune. The balance between strings/springs is altered if you broke a string

We were using them 20 years ago when they were still relatively new. You could d all the dives and keep it on tune. Had it on two guitars but not the Flying-V.

To put a Floyd Rose in a Flying V, is a disaster...i know a dude who put a Kahler in his Les Paul Standard,,horrible.
