This is my new axe:
http://www.bostonguitar.com/Merchant2/m ... LD-EG-FEND

looks really nice. The picture don't show the true neck and fingerboard colour, seems more "white" in the image, but is a darker varnish (between yellow/brown), like the old Stats.

A lot of strat players here:), great! I love that Jimi Hendrix strat. I would buy one too if it only had 22 frets:)

I like strats with 21 frets, with his good things and deffects (high frets access isn't the best for the current times, the hum, smaller neck radious that makes u to get harder action, 21 frets that makes the "end" of the guitar very close..neck pick up sound that is very sharp, but in Voodoo is better due to pickup possition, makes u to improve in amp settings and right hand work..some of those factors makes u to improve like player, don't forget that Ritchie Blackmore began to play Strats for reasons like that), i can't use this guitar with my band, cuz i need sound with lots of body, due to that i uses Robin guitars mainly, those snake skin finished and perloid white that i show on Myspace, without doubts, one of the best super strat guitars that i have played ever, they're handmade in Texas with patience.
Altought, i've a couple of white Gibson Explorers, and a Jackson Soloist and a Charvel.

I don't really get the point about the frets but whatever. :D
I got so used to strats that I can't play on anything else. Good thing about them is that they are so easy to modify. I've been experimenting with different pickups and wirings to get the tone I want. Right now I also build my own guitars.

The frets matter is that when you play some songs, with 21 is impossible to play correctly some phrases wrote for play in 22 or 23 frets that i can play with the rest of my guitars, that's a fact, or the passage is played in bad way, or 1 octave lower. I've heard that Uli Roth had some Strats with 22 frets in late 70's, added by a luthier, but i didn't found pictures about those guitars.
About modifications, I played lately some friend's modified Strats, specially when i got this last one, and these guitars had JB juniors, others with Hot rails, and others with Fast track II, and all of them loses the Strat identity, i prefered my Voodoo. for get a fat humbucker sound, i have other guitars, don't need to do that to a Strat. This Voodoo compared with my 78 Strat, sound thinner, that oldie sounds really good, and don't need any modification. Maybe i'll change the pickups, i'm thinking on Lindy Fralin Blues Special:
http://www.fralinpickups.com/stratstyleBS.asp
Or Shur:
http://www.suhrguitars.com/pickups.aspx#FL
I'm building a guitar also. another Strat body. I began to work in the body, i'll finish it in August, while i'm in vacation. Got a maple neck, 21 medium frets and maple fingerboard and small reverse headstock. I'll paint it in classic white, and relic it before to assembly.
I'm also thinking on build a Frankestrat, don't need to be very careful on the finishes..altought....those Charvels are very expensive.

However, but for Mastercastre and Dommenget Explorer 90 - the best standarts in guitar world.

But being good guitars they aren't referents, Domenget guitars, there's not much famous people playing them, except scorpions. No one demands Domengets on recording studios for work, for example, but a Tyler, Tom Anderson, RAN, Ramirez or Shur yes, and aren't a referent either for the big public, being superb guitars. I've never played a Domenget, and u? They are expensive and unknown. My reference about them is that Scorpions plays them, and they get good sound on stage, but we don't know what kind of stuff they uses on studio.
When i want some heavy stuff from guitars, for superstrat type, i attend to Robin Medleys (II, IV and V mainly, and are my fav axes, those that i always brings with me for the gigs) they're handmade in Houston and are superb but also unknown like Domengets but i bet that not worst, Jackson Soloist, Charvel nº6 (excellent guitar, i'm dealin for get another one the next week) or the awesome St. Dimas, and for classic sounds some Gibsons and Fenders, like my Strats or my Explorers 76 but in Gibson stuff i know some better like some old Customs, R9 or Les Paul ZW, one of the most powerful guitar ever built that i've used for record, and i think that doesn't have to envy nothing to Domengets, altought are more known.
Do u like Mastercasters? The look isn't nice, is like an ugly Stratocaster and and some of them looks kitsch. I'll don't pay the price that it has only due to is the Matthias axe, having excellent used Fenders on the market.

I always thought that the Mexican Fenders were very good guitars for their price. Fender's a great guitar company overall, but that suffocating poly finish on the Mexican made guitars dampen its tone. I prefer nitro finishes.
