Thanks for your nice words Mike,
fact is that we are all posting on topics BEFORE ppl make them off topic to fight and insult. But I don´t want to talk anymore about it here, cause the fight topics and ppl are accept here and that´s more than sad.
Maybe you can send a PM to google bot and will get an answer

I don't think a personal assistant could put up with me, hell, I can barely put up with myself. Have you ever realized you've just done something stupid and shake your head, maybe let out a little amusing laugh at yourself? That was me all day yesterday  , maybe they're putting something in them damn McNuggets.

Traditional stuff for Turkey Day, I got a 21 pounder thawing and keeping my beer company in the basement fridge. I'm feeling like a weasel for buying Stove Top stuffing so I'll probably go back to the grocer and buy the real stuff. Mashed potatos (real), yams, mushrooms, gravy (in jars, yeah, weaselly I know), various veggies and I'm also making a huge salad. Ah, thanks for the Cool Whip idea, it is a very versatile topping

Back to topic, still waiting for answer from Herr Webmaster :?

As for your "something stupid"....I do it everyday....my roommate is amazed at times I am still alive.... ....just means your human.... 8)

Now let's talk about that menu.....
Turkey....good.....just don't forget to take out the gibbles.....always best to prepare him the night before....that way you can get up at 4 in the morning and shove it in the oven and go back to bed....

Stuffing....no problems....Stove Top is the best....and gives you more time to drink beer....and be a social host....

Mash Tatars....must be made with half & half and real butter....

Yams....YUCKY....even with the marshmellows on them.....EEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWW

Mushrooms....are they stuffed....

Gravey....again....let's you be the social host....

Veggies....green beans....only ones you need for Thanksgiving.....

Salad....nice starter....

But where are your pies....suggustions....pumpkin, cherry, apple, and maybe custard.....
As for Cool Whip....you got a huge smile with that sentence....the things that can be done with a tub of Cool Whip....a dab here and a dab there.... 8)

And who is playing on Turkey day....

And sorry I have hi-jacked this topic....they don't do Thanksgiving here and I do miss planning and making the meal....I had to have my dad send me Libby's Pumpkin.....and then was charged an import tax on it....

Well, I've probably directed about a dozen posts to Wolfgang over the years and never once gotten a reply, the only list I know I'm on is my grandma's and I've been on the top of that since I was a little boy. I'm sure she'll remind me on Thanksgiving

Thanks for the tips, I was really kind of getting stressed about the whole thing making sure I do it right. But that's silly, it's my family, lol, and I can serve them up the biggest disaster Thanksgiving has ever seen and all that would happen is I'd never host Thanksgiving again

Mushrooms stuffed with bacon, ham & cheese. Green beans? Didn't even think of that, and if that's all I need it works for me. I'm also gonna roast the bird (sans giblets) on top of a bed of carrots & onions, smother the bird in olive oil and cover with foil. I'm leaving the pie to the guests, my mom always buys a variety but I can count on pumpkin & apple for sure. I never eat any because by that time I'm usually over-stuffed and in a tryptophanic trance.

Fortunately the Bears aren't playing so they won't take away from the day. It's a tripleheader, 1st game Packers at Lions, then Jets at Cowboys during which we should have our meal, followed by the Colts at the Falcons. They should all be snoozers, might make me sleepier than the tryprophan

I'll have a slice of pie for ya, if there's room

What kinds of stupid things did you doo Mike to laugh at your self?
I exactly know the feeling, it often happens to me.

Hey, I never have eaten traditional american meals yet, just I know those fastfood-restaurant meals but your Thanksgiving menu with Kathy sounds really good, yummy!

Oh my, just a bunch of little things like hanging pictures wrong, scaring myself with my own prank, taking all my sprinklers & hoses out from winter storage to water my lawn only to have rainstorms pour down on me less than an hour later, breaking sprinkler heads, and then the one that takes the prize: Taking a beautiful Ribeye steak out of the freezer Saturday night, "temporarily" setting it down on top of the freezer while I find a spot for it in the fridge to defrost, get distracted and forget about the steak, go to bed. The entire next day passes, I get the grill going Sunday night and go to the fridge to retrieve my steak...where the hell is it? I step back to open the freezer and what's that on top? Yeah, way to go Mike   So I go to bed on an empty stomach (I didn't deserve to eat), with too many screw holes in the wall, a huge fake rat in my basement laughing at me if it could, and neighbors probably telling their children not to talk to that man who waters his lawn and breaks sprinkler heads in the rain

I exactly know the feeling, it often happens to me.

Thanks for your sympathy my dear :D But probably not to the degree it happens to me, lol.

Well there's also an American saying that "Laughter is the best medicine". I'm glad you got a good dose, put a camera on me for a week and you'd probably be able to start a pharmacy

Well, it got off to a bumpy start and I thought, oh no, not today, lol. Actually the whole day could have been a disaster before it even got started, I made 2 big bungles but caught one in time and turned the other into a positive. Everything was going as planned, bird was brined, prepped and ready for the oven. I did a lot of reading and one thing I noted was not to use the pop-up thingy to tell you when it's done, the bird will be over-cooked so you really want to use a thermometer. So I did, only the type I used was only meant to check temperature and wasn't meant to sit inside an oven. So yeah, you guessed it, instead of seeing a temperature reading when I looked in the oven I saw a twisted melting figure ready to drop all over the bird. I got it out just in time, called my mom and told her to bring a thermometer as mine was not functioning. "Not functioning? What do you mean?" "Well, it used to function but I think I broke it." Mom knows me well enough, she doesn't ask me what happened, she only asks "Do I need to buy a turkey?". "No ma, everything's peachy keen fine and dandy, just bring a thermometer." Thermometer on the way, I go back to the oven and something doesn't look right. No, I couldn't have, could I? Let me look at some pictures...yep, I did. OK, the bird is upside down, should I try to turn it over? It looks pretty hot, already melted a thermometer, maybe I should just let it be, yeah, why not. A few hours later my nephew is the first to arrive, as things have it he's just back from school in Italy studying to be a chef. "Looks great, and smart move to cook it upside down as the juices will settle in the breast", he says with approval as he looks in the oven. I give him a patronizing look, "Well I guess they did teach you a little something in that school of yours and your mom will be happy all that money didn't go to waste. Since you're so sharp you get the honor of flipping it over and carving when it's done". So not only did I escape ridicule I also got out of flipping and carving, talk about eluding 2 major disasters in waiting, lol. Unlike myself, the kids not only weren't scared by the rat, they loved it. I was gonna let them keep it but decided to keep it myself as it might scare away mice. With my luck it'll probably scare me again one night after a few too many beers and instead of scaring away mice it'll probably attract potential mates.

All I can say is "Bless you and your cotton socks.... 8) "

You seemed to have "overstudied" for this meal....always get a butterball....always trust the pop-up thingy in the turkey....(words of wisdom here....have cooked many many turkeys in my day....the pop-up thingy never lies....)

My only other question is this....did you not know that turkey was sitting abit sideways in the pan....I have this mental picture of this poor turkey leaning in the roasting pan....and I can't help but giggle....

And I must applaud your bravery for post that story here....now what did you do to the teams I picked....not one of them won....

It was a butterball and in spite of the miscues it ended up being one of the best turkeys I've ever had. You're right about the pop-up thingy, it doesn't lie but I've read that it doesn't tell the truth on time.
I ended up taking it out of the oven at 161 and let it finish outside for about 15 minutes, the results were the juiciest most flavorful bird I can remember. The key was brining it over-night, I followed the example from the Food Network guy and it made all the difference in the world. Thank God for YouTube! And yeah, I always over-study everything, lol, but next year should be a lot smoother, I'll just need a refresher course instead of a crash course

My only other question is this....did you not know that turkey was sitting abit sideways in the pan....I have this mental picture of this poor turkey leaning in the roasting pan....and I can't help but giggle....

Well, he did look a little funny, lol, but not until he was in the oven. But it came out so good that next year's will look like a little cockeyed too

And I must applaud your bravery for post that story here....now what did you do to the teams I picked....not one of them won....

Oh, there's nothing to fear, let the first perfect person here who's never made a mistake or done something stupid cast stones. If so, it's just water off a duck's ass. I hope at least a few people got some chuckles out of my ordeals, we all could use a little laughter sometimes, even if it's at our own expense. Regarding football, I need your predictions for next week. I'm going to Vegas Friday night and if you're wrong all the time I'll go opposite and the bookmakers won't stand a chance  8)

Now will you be doing Christmas dinner and continue with the saga "Of Men and Men and Turkeys".... 8)

As for football....here you go....my picks for Dec 2....can't go with Thursday's game....cause you won't be in Vegas on Thursday....which is good cause I don't like either Dallas or Green Bay....more like I don't like Dallas and Brett Favre....I wish he would retire and mean it....

Kansas City
Houston
Jacksonville
Washington
SF
Minnesota
NY Jets
St. Loius
Seattle
Arizona
Oakland
Chicago
New Orleans
Pittsburgh

Monday night game....Oh goodness don't like either team....having a think....let's go with Baltimore....

These teams were picked based on my likes and dislikes....I have no idea where they are in the standings....

Christmas this year is at mom's so the saga, lol, will continue next year.

You wish Favre would retire? I'm a Bears fan, how do you think I feel? I wish the S.O.B. would have retired a few years ago when many Packers fans wanted him out. Now he's like the damn Energizer bunny and just keeps going and going, and the bad part is he's better than ever! I hate Dallas also, I hope they beat the crap out of each other and end up in a tie...0-0.

Thanks for your picks, I'll have to look at the match-ups. For sure I won't go against my Bears, just can't bet against them cause then I gotta root against them and that ain't gonna happen. Based on my picks year-to-date I'll probably end up like last time and break even, my best chances are at Blackjack where I've got a long track record of winning.

I can't wait, I love this trip, I always have a blast. Maybe I'll post in "How's the weather over there" if I see a dust devil or hear thunder

He talked about retiring 2005 and then again in 2006....there is something about him I don't care for....just like the Mannings....my mom used to get tickets to the Dallas/Washington games when they were in Dallas....brave woman she was....she would sit and cheer for Washington in the middle of the Dallas fans....needless to say my dad was always worried about making to the car and out of the state in one piece....

I can't go against the Kansas City Chefs....I mean Chiefs....do you remember that Snickers ad.... 8)....I am a fan until I die....and even in the afterlife....

Never been to Vegas....nor have I ever wanted to....too many lights and buildings....it is the city of sin....and as you know I am a saint....
