SCORPIONS:
Wacken Open Air ist das größte Heavy Metal Festival der Welt und das zweitgröße Festival Deutschlands. Über 60.000 Fans pilgerten 2006 in das kleine Dorf in Schleswig Holstein um die Scorpions als Headliner des Festivals zu erleben.Im Sommer 2006 hatte die Band 50 Songs zur Auswahl ins Internet gestellt — die Message an die Fans hieß: "Ihr macht das Voting für die Songs die Ihr in Wacken hören wollt." Viele dieser Songs, die dann ausgesucht wurden, waren am Ende Titel, die sie ohnehin in ihrem Live-Set hatten.
Diese DVD präsentiert dies legendäre Konzert bei dem die Scorpions auf der Bühne von so prominenten Ex-Mitgliedern wie Rudolf Schenker`s Bruder Michael (ex U.F.O.) Uli Jon Roth oder Drummer Herman Rarebell unterstützt wurden.
Die Scorpions sind immer noch Deutschlands erfolgreichster Musikexport — Bands wie Van Halen, Metallica, Bon Jovi, und Def Leppard spielten in jungen Jahren als Vorband für die Scorpions. Billy Corgan, Frontmann der Smashing Pumpkins, zählt die Scorpions als seinen größten musikalischen Einfluss. Gleiches gilt für Bands wie Eddie Van Halen, Bon Jovi oder System of a Down, welche auch einzelne Songs der Scorpions gecovert haben.
SCORPIONS:
Wacken 2006 — this was a very special concert for us, exciting and challenging and— most important of all — a family reunion.
We wanted our fans to participate, so in summer 2006 we put a set of 50 songs on our homepage for the community to vote. Many of the songs chosen we had on our setlist anyway, but there were also many surprises.
Together with Michael Schenker, Uli Jon Roth and Herman Rarebell this show at Wacken gave us a great platform to journey through time — 35 years of SCORPIONS history!
"A Night to remember" it was indeed, a night to remember with an audience of 60.000 die hard metal fans who celebrated with us that the SCORPIONS got the sting and rock you like a Hurricane!
